people are scared to think of something new,
hate to admit that they were wrong, or have been duped.

Do you think it is "willful" when people have no access to other sources of information?.....BOTR
Hey Band!..
Most JW`s have the same access to information as the rest of us..
Unfortunately when it`s presented,it`s immediately dismissed..
JW Ignorance on many subjects,is self imposed..

Oh my! It seems that the power of mind control is dismissed or forgotten By those who have been freed.
Anything presented by anyone except the WT approved had to be quickly dismissed as coming from satin.
My mind would not allow me to consider anything contrary to WT based beliefs!
But not now! Since I have been freed...why? I do not know however I am so relieved that I am!
Some have expressed to me how fortunate I am because most who were indroctinated arent so "lucky".

I don`t think it`s forgotten..I certainly remember it..
Still..JW`s do have a choice about whether to think for themselves or not..
Most choose "Not"..
There is a "Price to Pay" in WBT$ World, for "Thinking for Yourself"..

to teach (someone) to fully accept the ideas, opinions, and beliefs of a particular group and to not consider other ideas, opinions, and beliefs
get it? If we did we would be going against God himself! AND BE PUT TO DEATH

Phizzy can I translate this and post this somewhere else? Do you want specific credit or should I just mention the site?

People like to be validated, even if they are wrong. It takes courage to be honest with oneself when evidence contradicts one's beliefs. That's where it has to start.
Dear I Love TTATT, please feel free to use my little parable anyway you see fit, and simply credit it to a poster on JWN.
I was struggling to think of a way to explain our position to a JW. They simply seem unable to grasp that it isn't as simple as us "choosing" another belief, choosing to trust that something is true without proof, as they do with theirs.
Then it came to me, the parallel between our position and that of Galileo, an Authoritarian Church teaching what was error, and yet believed by nearly all the faithful, who were afraid to question it anyway.
But once Galileo had gained the knowledge of what was true, there was no going back. He could no longer accept the Church's view, it was not a matter of choice, it was simply seeing what was true.
Also another parallel is that Galileo knew all that the Priests who opposed him knew, but he knew much more, and his extra knowledge showed their beliefs to be false. How like us ! We know all that JW's know, and we know much more, that extra knowledge exposes the falsehood of what they call the "truth".
Please use this simple to grasp example as you like, and may it prove useful.
Thank you very much!!
In fact, I use this very same analogy a lot... I KNOW I am right!! Because I have looked through that "telescope"!!
Phizzy, interesting you mentioned Kepler, who disagreed with Copernicus who stuck with CIRCULAR orbits, an unworkable system. but
Kepler kept attending his protestant congegation, which no doubt still believed in the talking snake and the Sun rising. and
he attendet with bible open checking what his pastor and the dis-agreeing calvinists taught,
This got him disfellowshipped,
one of the finest Apostates around.
