this really is a hoax from where I see it ,they make members take the day off work just to go to an hour long meeting and are told not to participate , it was supposed to be an actual church supper where they ate and drank as jesus did with his 12 then at the end the covenent ritual took place but only after they ate their full meal , the bible says that as long as you eat and drink you are making declaration of the death of the lord but to eat and drink unworthily was unforgivable , only the individual is allowed to make the judgement call . The last time I went it was really disgusting as the resident ,"anointed", seemed more interested in telling people that the world governments were to be obeyed and were put there by jesus for him and by him(I think that scripture is a hoax) , after years of hearing the world ended invisibly and the kings of the earth have no authority ... they really make a joke out of everything.

Blondie- Thanks for those quotes. Even though the WT even says we should serve Christ, the mentality of JWs is such that it is not the way they think, and that slipped out during the talk, to serve Jehovah and not serve but respect Jesus. If a JW said half the things about Jesus that Paul did they would get the stink eye or worse wouldnt they. DataDog- It seems he stuck to what others are saying for the most part with the exeption of the JW.org pushing during the emblems being passed. How did what I said compare to your experience? Band on the Run- I agree. They are most definitely not Christian. The irony of it is that they think they are the ONLY true christians.. Backwards.

They don't seem Christian to me. I wonder how scholars would classify them.

It seems that most scholars do not look closely enough at the religion to classify them accurately. They take the self-proclaimed label "Christian" at face value and assign additional labels like "millenarian" and "nontrinitarian" and call it a day. I would suggest that in practice they are somewhere closer to the Christianity of Jerusalem which Pauline Christianity superseded. In other words, more Messianic Jewish than Christian in the modern sense of "Christian". In some ways they are positively Jewish Orthodox. They act as if they accept the teachings of Paul, of course, but mainly the parts that enable them to be a high control group, and not the parts that emphasize God's forgiveness or "faith apart from works".

From the new songbook, to the new memorial outlines, this always wrong, always corrupt cult is only getting more tasteless and more oblivious to what is right. They are morphing more and more from a religion into something more akin to scientology. Their message literally is- Listen Obey and Be Blessed with living forever never to have sex again on earth eating vegan, and playing with lobotomized former predators and obeying your overlords.

For what it's worth, having no children in the new system (which is only speculation, not a doctrine) is not equivalent to having no sex in the new system. As repressed as they are, even the Witnesses don't believe that sex is only for procreation. Have you forgotten the romantic ring of the phrase "marriage due"?
