The genius of the new donation arrangement

Your post made me wonder. Maybe a reason for the new arrangement is that the money that was on deposit is now gone! Lost, spent syphoned away. Thus to cover themselves and of course satisfy their appetite they make this change. Like how the US Gov. does with social security considering it income. Either way they don't intend to give back those deposits. Maybe a congregation should quickly request their funds returned, I am interested in seeing what would result!?

" The only benefit I see that the Congregation gets is an updated hall every 10 years or so without a loan payment."

Now that the money is flowing to the WT without official 'loans', that will change; we are seeing the last of the pressure to remodel.

The pressure to remodel was to ensure a money supply for the WT; when they get it, remodels and new halls will be 'not needed', 'not a priority' and 'unnecessary this deep into the time of the end'.

The first question which comes to my mind is this: How many child molestation lawsuit settlements are happening and what is the debtload and how

    many are yet to come?

Hmm, interesting suggestion. We'll have to watch for this change over the next few years. Might be tricky though to informally measure the rate of remodels or the number of new Halls just from comments on this board.

This will royally piss off congregations that have all their money in place to do a major renovation. They will have to turn over their money to headquarters and wait for their renovation.

I hope for failure. What happens when people have crap jobs that barely allow them to make ends meet, because of washtowel policies? Then they are required to donate toward the Worldwide Damnation Fund. And now it doesn't even need to reach 3,000 toilet papers to trigger a bleed, since it is automatically bled into this Worldwide Damnation Fund.

And I hope for their electricity to be cut off because of non-payment. Let joke-hova take care of them when that happens. And no, they cannot have my flashlight (even if I have plenty of them) or headlamp. If the lights are turned off, they can hold a boasting session in pitch dark for all I care. And I have my trusty light--at my apartment--so, even if they somehow did manage to force me into the building, I would simply put it on its lowest setting so I can get out without too much attention. I can only hope their heat gets cut off in winter, when it is around -25 C out and the wind is blowing 60 km/h. I hope the inside of the building gets below 0 C, and all the water pipes freeze. And they are getting nothing out of me, since my rule is "If there is money for the Worldwide Damnation Fund, there is money for more silver--which I get to keep".

    Just remember one thing, lurkers....

the Organization is invincible. It is invunerable. Therefore, if you can't afford to contribute, Jehovah will simply pay for it himself.

    Got that?

Where I am the local KH has only about eleven loan payments left. It should be interesting when this comes up for discussion, if it does, and questions are asked about the loan payments now being forced on the poor of the local KH in perpetuity.

I know for a fact there will be at least one hand in the air for a show of hands "against" the resolution. MINE!

I also gave this donation thing some thought. The extra money is not the only motivation. It may be a plus for headquarters, but not the sole reason.

I back this up with this thought... If they only wanted more money there are other ways to get it. For example, imagine this letter sent out:

" Dear Brothers, many of you have been asking how our brothers are doing in the Philipines. We are happy to say than most of are brothers survived and are in good spirits. Many branches are mobilizing to offer support. As of now it has been reported that over 10,000 of our brothers homes have been destroyed. Over 20 Halls have also been damaged or destroyed. Many of you have have expressed an interest in helping them. At this time there is an urgent need for help. We are asking each congregation to donate as much as you can. It is suggested that $20 per publisher would help them greatly......."

So, what is the real motive? Thats what I'm left asking myself.

Then I remembered something. Menlo Park! The congragation that got ripped apart becuase of headquarters stepping in on their hall. It was a big mess. But, that problem is now going away. All new halls will not be "bought" with local congregation loans. Rather they will be built and owned by headquarters. All money donated for the hall is simply a donation, not a payment. Now local congragations have no legal grounds of ownership in the hall.

Now the elders understand more specifically the purpose of "do what we tell you to do, whether it makes sense or not" (paraphrasing). Cognitive disonance at a peak now.
