    OPENING COMMENTS

My comments will reflect what the WTS has taught in the past and is now changing. Many Christian religions have other explanations and I won’t be discussing those here. The WTS has said that all the 144,000 must be dead and resurrected to heaven before the marriage takes place or is completed….with all the young GB members and anointed, will these remaining die a natural death conveniently at the same time or with new anointed partaking each year, be spread out over hundreds of years? Will anointed live through Armageddon and live out their lives and die missing the wedding?

    *** w66 9/15 pp. 575-576 Questions From Readers ***

    ● Revelation 19:7 mentions rejoicing “because the marriage of the Lamb has arrived and his wife has prepared herself.” What is this marriage and when does it take place?—T. H., U.S.A.

The Lamb is Jesus Christ and “his wife” is made up of the 144,000 anointed followers of Christ who become his Bride. (John 1:36; 3:28, 29; Rev. 14:1-5; 21:2, 9-14) These, who include Jesus’ faithful apostles, share in his sufferings, submit to a death like his and have a similar resurrection, one to spirit life in heaven.—Phil. 3:8-11; Rom. 6:5; Eph. 5:25-27.

The faithful apostles and other early Christians were the first members of the Bride to be selected. Only a remnant, the final number of this class, remain on earth today. For centuries members of Christ’s Bride class have been traveling to meet their heavenly Bridegroom, just as Rebekah journeyed a great distance to become Isaac’s wife. (Gen. 24:59-67) Happily, though, for the vast majority of the Bride class that journey has ended. But when?

The marriage of the Lamb began to be consummated in 1918 C.E. At that time Jesus Christ accompanied Jehovah God to His spiritual temple. (Mal. 3:1) Anointed followers of Christ who had been sleeping in death were then resurrected to heavenly life. (1 Thess. 4:15, 16) However, the Lamb’s marriage is still in progress, inasmuch as there are still prospective members of the Bride of Christ on earth. They must yet prove faithful until death in order to receive the crown of life and become united with Jesus Christ in heaven. When these die in faithfulness, they are immediately resurrected as spirit creatures.—Rev. 2:10; 14:13; 1 Cor. 15:51-53.

The order of events foretold in the book of Revelation, chapters 18 and 19, indicates that Babylon the Great, the world empire of false religion, must suffer destruction before the Lamb’s marriage in heaven is fully consummated. At Revelation 19:1-5 Jehovah is praised for executing judgment on this “great harlot.” Then the apostle John was inspired to write: “And I heard what was as a voice of a great crowd and as a sound of many waters and as a sound of heavy thunders. They said: ‘Praise Jah, you people, because Jehovah our God, the Almighty, has begun to rule as king. Let us rejoice and be overjoyed, and let us give him the glory, because the marriage of the Lamb has arrived and his wife has prepared herself. Yes, it has been granted to her to be arrayed in bright, clean, fine linen, for the fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the holy ones.’ And he tells me: ‘Write: Happy are those invited to the evening meal of the Lamb’s marriage.’”—Rev. 19:6-9.

Though Jehovah certainly took power and began to rule when the Messianic kingdom was established in heaven in 1914 C.E., the destruction of Babylon the Great marks a new epoch in God’s rule. Revelation 19:6, regarding Jehovah’s beginning to rule as king, appears to be associated with the destruction of the world empire of false religion, which will occur in this very generation. Only after this notable event will the marriage of the Lamb come to completion. (See “Babylon the Great Has Fallen!” God’s Kingdom Rules!, published by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, pages 616-622.) Yet, not immediately thereafter will the Lamb’s marriage be completed. The war of Armageddon, wherein Christ serves as God’s Chief Executioner of the wicked, follows Greater Babylon’s destruction. (Rev. 16:14, 16; 19:11-21) After Armageddon Satan and his wicked angels will be abyssed. (Rev. 20:1-3) Some time after that the marriage feast with the complete Bride will take place.

The Scriptures tend to show that a remnant of the Bride class will live for a time here on earth after the end of this system of things and the abyssing of Satan and the other demons. For example, Noah’s wife, who pictured the anointed remnant, survived the Flood. Also, as Elisha lived through the destructive work of Jehu of old, so too some of the anointed Elisha class of today will evidently survive the destructive activity of the Greater Jehu, Jesus Christ. These Biblical pictures indicate that some members of the Bride of Christ will live for a time here on earth during the early part of Christ’s thousand-year reign.

Consequently, the feast or evening meal of the Lamb’s marriage will remain in progress until the very last member of the Bride class dies in faithfulness and is united with Jesus Christ in heaven. How long the marriage feast will continue in heaven after the binding and abyssing of Satan and his wicked angels is unknown to the Bridal remnant today.

    *** it-2 p. 787 Resurrection ***

When all the 144,000 have been finally approved and “sealed” as faithful ones and have been resurrected to the heavens, the marriage can proceed.

    *** w95 7/1 pp. 13-14 par. 19 Christian Witnesses With Heavenly Citizenship ***

In another vision John hears faithful, resurrected, anointed Christians referred to as ‘the Lamb’s wife.’ What a warm picture this paints of the intimacy they will enjoy with Jesus and of their willing subjection to him! Picture the joy in heaven when the last of them finally receives his heavenly reward. Now, at last, “the marriage of the Lamb” can take place! That royal heavenly organization will then be complete.—Revelation 19:6-8.

Rejoice Over the Marriage of the Lamb!

“Let us rejoice and be overjoyed . . . because the marriage of the Lamb has arrived.”—REV. 19:7.

    KEY POINTS TO REMEMBER

    • At the Lamb’s marriage, who is the bride, and how has Christ been preparing her for the wedding?
    • When is the marriage of the Lamb due to take place?
    • How do we know that the “other sheep” will share in the universal rejoicing over the marriage of the Lamb?

1, 2. (a) Whose wedding will be a particular cause for joy in heaven? (b) What questions arise?

IT ALWAYS takes time to prepare for a wedding. But we will focus on a very special wedding—a royal one at that. Just imagine! It has been in preparation for about 2,000 years. Now the time is rapidly approaching when the bridegroom will be united with his bride. Soon, joyful music will fill the King’s palace, and heavenly throngs will sing out: “Praise Jah, because Jehovah our God, the Almighty, has begun to rule as king! Let us rejoice and be overjoyed and give him glory, because the marriage of the Lamb has arrived and his wife has prepared herself.”—Rev. 19:6, 7.

When did the preparation start? When did the consummation start? When will it end per the QFR above?

2 “The Lamb” whose marriage will be a cause for joy in heaven is none other than Jesus Christ. (John 1:29) How is he dressed for the wedding? Who is his bride? How has she been prepared for marriage? When does the wedding take place? This marriage will cause joy in heaven, but will those who hope to live forever on earth join in that rejoicing? With eager anticipation, we will consider such questions as we continue our examination of Psalm 45.

The real question is will all the anointed be dead and resurrected to heaven to participate in the wedding? Will the young anointed today die a death of old age or will they live through Armageddon and the wedding take place some time after the last anointed dies in the new system?

    HIS GARMENTS ARE PERFUMED’

3, 4. (a) What is said of the Bridegroom’s wedding garments, and what adds to his joy? (b) Who are “the daughters of kings” and “the royal consort” who share the Bridegroom’s joy?

3 Read Psalm 45:8, 9. The Bridegroom, Jesus Christ, puts on his glorious royal wedding garments. Fittingly, his attire gives off a delightful fragrance like that of “the choicest perfumes,” such as myrrh and cassia, which were among the ingredients of the holy anointing oil used in Israel.—Ex. 30:23-25.

How many of you know that some Christian religions believe that they have human bodies in heaven?

4 The heavenly music that fills his palace adds to the joy that the Bridegroom feels as his marriage approaches. His joy is shared by “the royal consort,” the heavenly part of God’s organization, which includes “the daughters of kings,” that is, the holy angels. What a thrill it is to hear celestial voices declare: “Let us rejoice and be overjoyed . . . because the marriage of the Lamb has arrived”!

Do you think that the kingdom songs of the WTS are the same quality?

THE BRIDE IS PREPARED FOR THE WEDDING

    5. Who is “the Lamb’s wife”?

5 Read Psalm 45:10, 11. We have identified the Bridegroom, but who is his bride? She is a composite bride made up of the members of the congregation headed by Jesus Christ. (Read Ephesians 5:23, 24.) They will become a part of Christ’s Messianic Kingdom. (Luke 12:32) These 144,000 spirit-anointed Christians “keep following the Lamb no matter where he goes.” (Rev. 14:1-4) They become “the Lamb’s wife” and reside with him in his heavenly abode.—Rev. 21:9; John 14:2, 3.

Did John or other Christians of his time believe that 144,000 was a literal number? After 100 years of baptisms numbered in the Bible as 3,000 and 5,000, could the number 144,000 have been surpassed.

"According to the World Christian Encyclopedia (1982), it is estimated

that by A.D. 100 there were 1 million Christians in the Roman Empire out of a population of 181 million.

    6. Why are the anointed referred to as “the king’s daughter,” and why are they invited to ‘forget their people’?

6 The future bride is addressed not only as “O daughter” but also as “the king’s daughter.” (Ps. 45:13) Who is this “king”? Anointed Christians are adopted as “children” of Jehovah. (Rom. 8:15-17) Since they are to become a heavenly bride, the anointed are instructed: “Forget your people and your [fleshly] father’s house.” They are to keep their minds “fixed on the things above, not on the things on the earth.”—Col. 3:1-4.

Sounds like Jesus is marrying his sibling.

    7. (a) How has Christ been preparing his future bride? (b) How does the bride view her future Bridegroom?

7 Over the centuries, Christ has been preparing his future bride for the heavenly wedding. The apostle Paul explained that Christ “loved the congregation and gave himself up for it, in order that he might sanctify it, cleansing it with the bath of water by means of the word, so that he might present the congregation to himself in its splendor, without a spot or a wrinkle or any of such things, but holy and without blemish.” (Eph. 5:25-27) Paul told the anointed Christians in ancient Corinth: “I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy, for I personally promised you in marriage to one husband that I might present you as a chaste virgin to the Christ.” (2 Cor. 11:2) The Bridegroom-King Jesus Christ appreciates the spiritual “beauty” of his future bride. And the bride recognizes him as her “lord” and ‘bows down to him’ as her future husband.

I wonder who was anointed between 100 and 1879 C.E.?

THE BRIDE IS “BROUGHT TO THE KING”

    8. Why is it appropriate that the bride is described as being “absolutely magnificent”?

8 Read Psalm 45:13, 14a. The bride is presented as “absolutely magnificent” for the royal wedding. At Revelation 21:2, the bride is compared to a city, New Jerusalem, and is “adorned for her husband.” This heavenly city has “the glory of God” and is radiant, “like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone shining crystal clear.” (Rev. 21:10, 11) The resplendence of New Jerusalem is beautifully described in the book of Revelation. (Rev. 21:18-21) No wonder the psalmist portrays the bride as “absolutely magnificent”! After all, the royal wedding is taking place in heaven.

I wonder if the first century Christians knew that there were going to be a group who merely attended the wedding and were not going to be part of the bride?

    9. Who is “the king” to whom the bride is brought, and how is she attired?

9 The One to whom the bride is brought is the Bridegroom—the Messianic King. He has been preparing her, ‘cleansing her with the bath of water by means of the word.’ She is “holy and without blemish.” (Eph. 5:26, 27) His bride must also be fittingly attired for the occasion. And she is! Indeed, “her clothing is adorned with gold,” and “she will be brought to the king in richly woven garments.” For the marriage of the Lamb, “it has been granted to her to be clothed with bright, clean, fine linen—for the fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the holy ones.”—Rev. 19:8.

Messianic King…Messianic Kingdom same kingdom that Jesus and his followers preached about?

    ‘THE MARRIAGE HAS ARRIVED’

    10. When is the Lamb’s marriage due to take place?

10 Read Revelation 19:7. When is the Lamb’s marriage due to take place? Although “his wife has prepared herself” for the marriage, what is stated subsequently does not describe the actual wedding. Rather, it provides a vivid description of the final phase of the great tribulation. (Rev. 19:11-21) Does this mean that the marriage takes place before the Bridegroom-King completes his conquest? No. The visions in the book of Revelation are not presented in chronological order. In the 45th Psalm, the royal wedding occurs after the King Jesus Christ girds on his sword and ‘goes on to victory’ over his enemies.—Ps. 45:3, 4.

Final phase of the great tribulation

Not before Jesus completes his conquest…NO per WTS, but when is his conquest complete?

    Not presented in chronological order—PROOF?

Royal wedding AFTER Jesus girds on sword…where does this fall in relation to the destruction of Babylon the Great?

    11. In what order will Christ complete his conquest?

11 We can therefore conclude that the order of events will be as follows: First, judgment will be executed upon “the great prostitute,” Babylon the Great, the world empire of false religion. (Rev. 17:1, 5, 16, 17; 19:1, 2) Then, Christ will go forth to execute God’s judgments on the rest of Satan’s wicked system on earth by destroying it at Armageddon, “the war of the great day of God the Almighty.” (Rev. 16:14-16; 19:19-21) Finally, the Warrior-King will complete his conquest by abyssing Satan and his demons, reducing them to a state of deathlike inactivity.—Rev. 20:1-3.

    PROOF: Can we therefore conclude?

    Babylon the Great destroyed

Jesus go for the destroy Satan’s system on earth destroying all 7 billion plus non-jws, men, women, children eternally

Jesus abysses Satan and his demons (not killing them)

12, 13. (a) When will the marriage of the Lamb take place? (b) In heaven, who will rejoice over the marriage of the Lamb?

12 As anointed Christians finish their earthly course during Christ’s presence, they are resurrected to heavenly life. Sometime after the destruction of Babylon the Great, Jesus will gather to himself all the remaining members of the bride class. (1 Thess. 4:16, 17) Before the outbreak of the war of Armageddon, therefore, all members of the “bride” will be in heaven. After that war, the marriage of the Lamb can take place. What a joyful occasion that marriage will be! “Happy are those invited to the evening meal of the Lamb’s marriage,” states Revelation 19:9. Happy indeed will be the 144,000 members of the bride class. And the Bridegroom-King will be overjoyed to have the total number of his royal associates symbolically ‘eating and drinking with him at his table in his Kingdom.’ (Luke 22:18, 28-30) However, rejoicing over the marriage of the Lamb will not be limited to the Bridegroom and his bride.

As anointed die (since 1918) they are resurrected to heave

SOME TIME after Babylon destroyed, “Jesus will gather the remaining members” GATHER HOW? After each one dies of old age, illness, execution, accident or all at one specific time (like some describe the Rapture)? NO, BEFORE THE OUTBREAK OF THE WAR OF ARMAGEDDON, THEREFORE, ALL MEMBERS OF THE “BRIDE” WILL BE IN HEAVEN.

At one time the WTS envisioned that the remnant would survive on earth through Armageddon.

13 As we noted earlier, heavenly throngs unitedly sing: “Let us rejoice and be overjoyed and give him [Jehovah] glory, because the marriage of the Lamb has arrived and his wife has prepared herself.” (Rev. 19:6, 7) What, though, about Jehovah’s servants on earth? Will they also share in such exultation?

Jehovah’s servants on earth = only jws

“THEY WILL BE BROUGHT WITH REJOICING”

    14. As mentioned in Psalm 45, who are “the virgin companions” of the bride?

14 Read Psalm 45:12,14b, 15. The prophet Zechariah foretold that in the time of the end, people of the nations would gratefully associate themselves with the remnant of spiritual Israel. He wrote: “In those days ten men out of all the languages of the nations will take hold, yes, they will take firm hold of the robe of a Jew, saying: ‘We want to go with you, for we have heard that God is with you people.’” (Zech. 8:23) At Psalm 45:12, these symbolic “ten men” are spoken of as “the daughter of Tyre” and “the wealthiest of men.” They come to the anointed remnant with gifts, ‘seeking their favor’ and spiritual help. Since 1935, millions of people have allowed the remnant to ‘bring them to righteousness.’ (Dan. 12:3) These loyal companions of the anointed Christians have purified their lives, becoming spiritual virgins. These “virgin companions” of the bride have dedicated themselves to Jehovah and have proved themselves to be faithful subjects of the Bridegroom-King.

How do others interpret Zech. 8:23? Was it pointing a group apart from the Jews or would join the Jews as the Gentiles did in 36 C.E. when Cornelius and his family became Christians.

    15. How have “the virgin companions” worked together with those of the bride class still on earth?

15 The remnant of the bride class have been particularly grateful to these “virgin companions” for their zealous help in preaching “this good news of the Kingdom” throughout the inhabited earth. (Matt. 24:14) Not only do “the spirit and the bride keep on saying, ‘Come!’” but those hearing say, “Come!” (Rev. 22:17) Yes, the “other sheep” heard the members of the anointed bride class say “Come!” and have joined the bride in saying “Come!” to earth’s inhabitants.—John 10:16.

    Throughout the inhabited earth?

    *** w10 9/15 p. 10 par. 12 Earnestly Seek Jehovah’s Blessing ***

We recognize that the end could come at any time; Jehovah’s timing is not contingent on our giving a personal witness to every individual on the planet. (Matt. 10:23)

    *** w00 1/15 p. 13 par. 17 “Keep on the Watch” ***

Fifth, we see a global preaching work being accomplished, which Jesus said would take place just before the end of this system. Jesus stated: “This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14) Today, that prophecy is in the course of fulfillment on an unprecedented scale. True, untouched territories still exist, and it may be that in Jehovah’s due time, a large door leading to greater activity will open. (1 Corinthians 16:9) Nevertheless, the Bible does not state that Jehovah will wait until every individual on earth has received a personal witness. Rather, the good news must be preached to Jehovah’s satisfaction. Then the end will come.—Compare Matthew 10:23.

    Other sheep secondary class?

    16. Jehovah has granted the other sheep what privilege?

16 The anointed remnant love their companions and are happy to know that the Bridegroom’s Father, Jehovah, has granted these other sheep on earth the privilege of joining in the jubilation over the heavenly marriage of the Lamb. It was foretold that these “virgin companions” would be “brought with rejoicing and joy.” Yes, the other sheep, who hope to live forever on earth, will share in the universal rejoicing when the marriage of the Lamb takes place in heaven. Appropriately, the book of Revelation represents the members of the “great crowd” as “standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” They render Jehovah sacred service in the earthly courtyard of his spiritual temple.—Rev. 7:9, 15.

Granted the privilege of joining in the jubilation; but the marriage will be heaven and they will be on earth. No proof of the “earthly courtyard” or “standing before the throne” or explanation…just a given I guess.

“YOUR SONS WILL TAKE THE PLACE OF YOUR FOREFATHERS”

17, 18. How does the Lamb’s marriage become fruitful, and to whom will Christ become a father during his Millennial Reign?

17 Read Psalm 45:16. “The virgin companions” of Christ’s heavenly bride will have further cause for rejoicing when they see the marriage become fruitful in the new world. The Bridegroom-King will turn his attention to the earth and will resurrect his earthly “forefathers,” who will become his earthly “sons.” (John 5:25-29; Heb. 11:35) From among these he will appoint “princes in all the earth.” Doubtless, Christ will appoint others from among faithful elders of today to take the lead in the new world.—Isa. 32:1.

“marriage become fruitful in the new world”

When will these earthly forefathers become his sons, not until the end of the 1,000 reign and have passed the final test of Satan.

The WTS has taught that Abraham, Abel, Noah, Isaac, David, will rule where Jerusalem is now. The elders won’t like having to take second place to these “ancient worthies.” Will they be the disgruntled ones on earth at the end of the 1,000 reign that attack others to rule instead? Yes, the elders will be in your hair forever and not declared perfect for yet another 1,000 years.

18 During his Millennial Reign, Christ will become a father to others also. In fact, all earth’s inhabitants who receive everlasting life will gain it because they exercise faith in Jesus’ ransom sacrifice. (John 3:16) He thus becomes their “Eternal Father.”—Isa. 9:6, 7.

So will those on earth be sons of Jesus or sons of God?

MOVED ‘TO MAKE HIS NAME KNOWN’

19, 20. How do the exciting events mentioned in Psalm 45 affect all true Christians today?

19 Read Psalm 45:1, 17. Indeed, the events recorded in Psalm 45 concern all Christians. The remaining anointed on earth are enthralled by the prospect of soon being united in heaven with their brothers and with their Bridegroom. The other sheep are moved to be ever more submissive to their glorious King and are grateful for the privilege of being associated with the remaining members of his bride on earth. After their marriage, Christ and his Kingdom associates will bestow untold blessings upon the inhabitants of the earth.—Rev. 7:17; 21:1-4.

Concern all Christians = only jws

Anointed SOON being united in heaven…how soon…waiting 2,000 years already

20 As we look ahead to the fulfillment of “something good” concerning the Messianic King, are we not moved to ‘make his name known’? May we be among those who ‘will praise the King forever and ever.’

Messianic King, Jesus, making HIS NAME known or God’s?

    CONCLUDING COMMENTS

What a boring article. The only statement that stuck out to me was:

Before the outbreak of the war of Armageddon, therefore, all members of the “bride” will be in heaven.

Gosh, 'studying' that article must have been painful for the JWs at today's meeting, horribly dull.

If we had to wait until all the anointed were finally sealed and arrived in heaven before the oubreak of Armageddon, then theoretically the WTS could s t r e t c h out the plan pretty much indefinitely.

    Hi Blondie.

There seems to be something wrong with the way the 2nd sentence in par 19 is written: 'The remaining anointed on earth are enthralled by the prospect of soon being united in heaven with their brothers and with their Bridegroom.'

This sentence shows what male-chauvinistic pigs WT and the GB are.

Aren't the anointed in heaven and the remnant on earth made up of anointed sisters as well???

You'd think the sentence would read: 'The remaining anointed on earth are enthralled by the prospect of soon being united in heaven with their brothers and sisters and with their Bridegroom.'

Thanks Blondie!! You do a lot of work for our resident lurkers. 352 views and only 6 comments [ mine included], so people are watching. Really, the whole watchtarded lesson boiled down to paragraph 19. All the rest was pure speculation. The WTBTS interpretation of Revelation depends upon their interpretation of Psalm 45! They say, " Psalm 45 means blah, blah, blah, therefore revelation means yackity-smackity.." How convenient!

Lurkers, this is all you need to remember from the mind-numbingly boring WT lesson:

JWGoneBad, actually the WTS does point out that both women and men are chosen to be the anointed and go to heaven. Some Christians and religions teach that the 144,000 are all male because they don't defile themselves with virgins, defining virgins as women. I know that men can be virgins too.

Also in days gone by, the WTS used the word "brothers" to include men and women, but it is disturbing to be referred as brothers. I knew of an anointed sister who would whisper "and sisters" under her breath at the meetings whenever "brothers" only was used.

And the WTS says there is no physical gender in heaven but tries to denote authority by referring to everyone in heaven as male.

    *** it-1 p. 107 Angel ***

It is true that angels are sexless, because Jehovah made them so, not because they are impersonal forces. Angels are generally represented as males, and when materializing it was always in the male form, because God and his Son are spoken of as males.

    Thanks Blondie!

I actually reverted to doodling on my watchtower during this incrediblly boring episode of indoctrination, felt like I was back in elementary school. Can't even listen to comments anymore, I got to say this watchtower was so blatantly messed up I think someone up there is mixing the cool aid a little too thick.

"Christ will appoint others from among faithful elders of today to take the lead in the new world.—Isa. 32:1."

First time I noticed them say that. Sounds like flattery to me, trying to keep elders loyal.

Like others I found this one confusing, badly written with just one statement of note - (thanks for the review Blondie)

Without a doubt, when the time comes, those of Christ’s brothers already in heaven will have a part in shepherding people and nations with that iron rod.12 What, though, of God’s servants here on earth? The John class will have no active part in the fighting at Armageddon; neither will its loyal companions,

When will the remnant of anointed Christians who have initially been sealed receive their final sealing? Any still alive on earth will be sealed “in their foreheads” before the outbreak of the great tribulation. When the four winds of tribulation are unleashed, all of spiritual Israel will have been sealed in finality, even though a few will still be alive in the flesh and must yet finish their earthly course.
