this has been a push for a while now...when i was an MS I used to hear elders say each territory has enough inactive ones to start a new congregation....back then that should have told me something but that good old mind control thing had me.......

This is a new program for the C.O. visit... call on all the inactive ones in the congregation.

NUTS... I was hoping this was a one off. I had the COBE and the CO call on me just before memorial. I haven't been bugged for years.

The COBE (I know him well) after a short introduction of the CO (whom I had never met) took a step forward as if to come in but I just stood my ground in the doorway. After going through the usual "we miss you" and giving me an invite to the memorial he asked if I had any concerns that they could help with. I stayed non-committal with little responce.

The CO said they had a new way of helping inactive ones and that was by having one of the elders come by and discuss and address any "concerns" I might have instead of studying one of the pubs. It sounded like a fishing trip to me.

I told the COBE I know where you live and I will get in touch with you if I want to and politely closed the door. Think next time I will just ignore the doorbell.

leaving_quietly - This is a new program for the C.O. visit... call on all the inactive ones in the congregation. This will happen now twice a year.

Why would the GB want to put over-worked elders into situations where they would be exposed to people like Bill? It seems like a Lose-Lose situation for elders. If the WTBTS is having a hard time keeping elders, I feel that this will only discourage more JWs from serving as elders.

People who want to quietly fade will probably keep the meeting brief by saying, "I'm busy. Thank you for your concern, and I will call you when I need your advice. Please call me and obtain my permission before dropping by unannounced."

Other people might ask elders questions like, "Why do you feel that "imperfect men" of the GB have the truth, when they discourage JWs from critically thinking for themselves? Please do not drop by again until after you can disprove anything on www.jwfacts.com. And, obtain my permission to visit by calling me first."

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

    Robert

I suspect the GB see it as a win-win for the society.

Every salesman knows that your existing customer base are the first ones to go to with new products. So by going back on inactive ones they may just strike a cord and get them reactivated.

On the other hand, it may also force the inactive one into expressing views that mean they can take more formal action thus isolating those that perhaps are inactive but perhaps having a negative (in their eyes) influence on family and friends.

They told him it was C.O's visit, and the Governing Body have asked them to call on those whom they no longer see at the K.Hall.

Hey, even four years after my JC, the elders are still calling. They called my wife and asked to speak to me. For whatever reason, I guess this is protocol. It's not that these guys are idiots, as much as it may be tempting for me to think that. It's just that some elders follow protocol to the letter, even for no apparent reason. I mean, surely those two elders who spoke to me could be spending that time helping people still on the inside who actually have some desire to stay in. Not to create a no-win situation for them--heck, at least they're looking for that one lost sheep, even if it is once a year like clockwork. But it's just, after somebody repeatedly tells you no, I'm not interested in coming back at all, one should only have to hear it a couple of times at most.

I mean, really, you'd think we were all idiots who had no idea what to do if there was even the slightest desire on our part to go back to the KH and rejoin or whatever.

Pffft. The elders looking to bring back the lost sheep? Frankly, I think the JWs are the lost sheep.

We've finally found the light and reality. We're living lives and thinking like humans, no longer the helpless sheep we used to be. The elders are trying to drag us back into the darkness and confusion as helpless sheep in their Watchtowerland.

It could be the GB looking for virulent apostates by forcing your hand. Let'em have it!

I notice this new program says nothing about calling on those who are disfellowshipped or disassociated. I was disfellowshipped nine years ago and have not set foot in a Kingdom Hall in four years. Not once have I received an elders' visit to gauge my interest in returning to the fold. I ran into some elders at a gathering in January 2013 and was shunned and ignored. They have my phone number and haven't once called. So much for following the example of the Good Shepherd and seeking the lost sheep! Maybe these elders have in mind our last judicial committee meeting in which I ripped them a new one and have decided that I am 'hardened in sin' and therefore unfit for any search and rescue mission.

These men are going to discover that no matter how often they call upon faders (as if twice a year would even suffice), almost none of them will ever consider returning. Waiting four years to call upon faders is a sure indication of just how spiritually bankrupt this cult truly is. Why would anyone in his right mind think that such callous neglect would get a positive response? The only reason I can think of for engaging in such futility is simply counting the time. But doubtless the Governing Body and its minions have figured that the appearance of caring is sufficient to allay the concerns of those who have inactive family members and friends.

Thanks for the experience phizzy, and warning. Not that I need one. All the JWs that know me in the circuit stay away from me. Those that don't know me are told to atay away.

My ex knows about my youtube interview of my story and the JC meeting. His barrister brought it up with me. Like he can use it in court? Anyway the elders in the local KHs probably know I have told my story and find the RI process unscriptural. They may have been gossiping amoungst themselves, so I don't think they will bother with me.

If they do I will lie and keep them at the door and tell them I will be coming back "soon". Hopefully they will get my point when I never come back.

    Kate xx
