Not at all. If you believe in such spirits, however, you can become ill from the stress. I notice that all the spooks when I was young were affiliated with nonEuropean cultures.

No but those men are trying to make certain people believe so, usually to acquire money or gain some appealing favor.
In just about every civilization in human history the people/men who were recognized as the spiritual seers for that civilization ,
lived the better life than the others or equal to kings or Queens.

No, I don't. But it can have a strong psychological hold on those who do believe in it. And even then, the 'special effects' are induced by drugs, not magic, so I hear. Which makes sense.
