I think it's pretty clear that if the Society is issuing new instructions then they are going to push back the deadline according to the delay they've created.

Any updates on this?
The original letter stated that elders must put the resolution to the congregation before May 31. Has that date been pushed back - or, "held in abeyance"?

If it is May 31st, then it was nice for the WT/GB to give the sheeples , time to figure out a projected fiancial plan after filing their US Federal Income tax, by April 15th.

Here is the follow up letter and the thread that discussed it:
Resolutions are being passed in all the Congs for the one-time donation and the new monthly commitment.
We have a die-hard elder with a martyr complex that was consistently voting for bigger amounts to be sent to the branch.
I voted for 0 to be sent and the lowest proposed monthly amount. The zero didn't fly unfortunately, but the minimum monthly amount stuck.
Remains to be seen what will come of all this.
It will be entertaining. You can see the problems coming.
