DATA-DOG, I bow to your sagacity - amended as suggested!!

Let your reasonableness become known to all men - even those who try to avoid/subvert/pervert the truth!

This is the Org I'm still "associated" with, albeit very tenuously now!!

I guess a very good reason is that Witnesses cannot be warned to avoid WikiPedia, because it's not regarded as an "apostate" site. Especially with all those lovely images of Kingdom Halls (real estate investments) featured!

The problem is that you're being subjective, you let your opinion in the article. Omit the "if not more" and the last phrase about them reading only the first page and not the entire letter. Or try to rephrase it in a way that it sounds more objective.

Give this a try and let's see how it works out. If i'd be a beleiver witness I'd definitely delete what you wrote or at least edit it just because of what I've mentioned above.

They weren't EDITING my piece, they were DELETING the whole thing - because of the link to the letter!

They should be standing at a trolley or cart somewhere, instead of wasting their valuable time on the internet!!

Keep up the good work Searcher !

A while ago a relative who is an Elder told me that Wiki was considered O.K by the WT for JW's to use for research, because the ability to edit means that it is regularly vetted for accuracy.

So, as said above, without doubt the W.T will have someone on Wiki patrol.

I am not familiar with the workings of the Site, but I do believe if your entry is deleted or edited in a vexatious way you can appeal to the site owners to "lock" your entry so that it cannot be deleted or edited without their say so. (?)

Thanks PHIZZY, I'll do that. It's been removed again, as of 9.00 am this morning!

A couple of days ago I had googled 'number of kingdom halls' and came across this Wikie entry and I was surprised to see it so up to date. Well done Searcher.

Sigh. Some people need to learn that Wikipedia has policies about what kind of sources are acceptable. You cannot use a forum or a blog as a source. They also need to learn that Wikipedia is not the place for 'exposés' or soapbox rants. And they need to learn that posting commentary in articles complaining about the removal of their inappropriate edits is not going to score them any points.

can you do a before and after jeffro?

The text in question (one of the less unsavoury renditions) is in the initial post of this topic. It is based on an unusable source, and the text is hardly of the quality for an encyclopedia anyway.

I admit that I don't know much about Wikipedia, but what Jeffro says makes sense. SEARCHER, maybe you would reach more people by simple posting information about the letter on other sites, like Yahoo answers or something similar, or JW chat forums?? You may be spinning your wheels on Wikipedia.
