even if you guys are saying that spirit is a metaphor you cannot simply dismiss spirit as if it was something figurative and unimportant. My argument rests on how metaphors structure language and meaning. if you are talking about metaphors in action then there is a lot for me to agree on since we would now be talking about vivacity and animation in practice in language. Metaphors can behave very much like Kate's catalysts (sp?)
edit: the direction that I was heading in previously was very much on topic as I was thinking about how what we call spirit is said to behave when people seem to mimic one another's behaviour which then spreads in what used to be called mass hysteria or even nowadays when people speak in tongues unconsciously and lots do it at the same time in unison. would this be off topic? I didn't think so...

I can show a connection cofty. But because of Vivs posts I am not going to today. I may another day, we'll see. I just think she will just attack my chemistry and I see no point in doing so. It's just not fun anymore cofty. I understand that you are interested in my perspective and having and productive debate, but there is a problem on this thread that needs resolving. Thanks to everyone who sent me a PM, I appreciate your encouragement.

You've never shown any chemistry on this site, just said you were a chemist and promptly displayed a stunning lack of knowledge about chemistry specifically and science in general. By all means, post some chemistry!
Anyway, rather than go further off topic, can you explain what spirit is made of?
