Does anyone get mail here that you do not recognize, and so you delete it when it, may be someone from the board here responding to your post?
Lipstik01 mailed me but when I started to open it I got a warning that opening this could cause computor problems.
Has there ever been a virus sender from this board?( I'm not implying you are "lipstik"... whoever you are)
I don't know who lipstik01 is, but one thing I do know, is that I get about two or three virusses sent to me per month. Thank goodness for Nortons, thats all I can say!
My advice is:
(1) Be very wary of file attachments that have a *.js,*.vbs or *.exe extension
(2) Don't be nasty to anyone that sends you a virus, 99/100 it was done in innocence.
(3) If you don't know who the person is that sent it, don't ever reply - that's just telling them "Hey, that was a valid e-mail you used - please send me more crap!"

I had posted some questions on a thread I started yesterday and I'm sure it was a response from that but......why would it have an attachment?

Have you tried doing a reverse lookup on the email address? Try this or give rest of address.

Valis....the server was not given....only Lipstik01.
The mail with the warning said it was in FRAMES....whatever that means.
Anyway....no big deal.
If I mail someone on this board I always put..."from Gumby on the discusion board" in the SUBJECT space. This way it dosen't look like another junk mail.
Speaking of viruses...I got one from this freako today.....I usually get two or three a week from addresses with no verifiable user info.
Anyone else?

The only thing that I can think of is that web pages often have frames. It could be a straight html page with some dodgy javascript or vbscript on it.
I have gotten a virus from someone on this board accidently. It used his address book and sent itself to everyone in it without his knowledge. It then went into my address book and began sending itself to everyone in my address book. It was using not only my e-mail address as a return address but it was also grabbing others in my book and using them as a response address. I even got one from myself to myself. I felt so bad, I had unknowingly sent friends and family a virus simply by having them in my address book. I cleared my address book and now have a virus scan that lets me know when one is sent to me so it doesnt happen again.
The e-mail "lipstik01" may not only be someone on the board but could also be someone in their address book.

I've received worms and trojan viruses from someone on the board. I'm certain it wasn't on purpose. I had to close system restore and then run my virus checker. Rebooted, turned system restore back on, and I've no probs since. It was obviously rooted there and every time I started up, it multiplied. My peuter has been clean for several days now.
