Now for myself, I like what Alan has to say...I still consider myself a Christian and a Bible researcher, becasue I think there is more to the story than what Alan says and more to the story than what traditional Chrisianity has told us.

    >The JW doctrine of universal sovereignty, nicely explained by You Know, is completely nonsensical. The question of God's power is moot according to this doctrine because even Satan acknowledges that God is supremely powerful. So the doctrine is that Satan questioned God's right to rule, as well as whether God's creatures were all motivated by self-interest. A careful look at these notions shows that they're nonsensical too.
In the final analysis the right to rule over anything is determined by power. The most powerful rules if he wants to. That's unaguable, because whoever ends up ruling over others after a battle over who should rule is by definition the most powerful. Since God is all-powerful by virtue of his being the Creator, and he has demonstrated his desire to continue ruling over all creation, he has the right to rule by virtue of his power. That's because all "rights" are granted by some authority.

"But wait!" the typical JW will say. "We're not talking about God's right to rule by virtue of his power, but by virtue of his moral superiority and so forth." Well, pretty much the same argument holds here. Who determines what is moral and right? Whoever is the most powerful in the universe. Otherwise we would have to say that a standard of morals exists apart from God, and that God conforms to this standard. But a JW will not admit of this, because he will say that God sets the standard. So a JW will have to admit that he believes God is moral because and only because he is God. Thus the claim that God has a right to rule by virtue of his moral superiority is a meaningless tautology.

The question of whether all creatures are motivated mainly by self-interest is ridiculous. In the realm of mankind we see a complete spectrum of motivations, from pure self-interest to massive selflessness, and this state has existed from mankind's beginnings. So that question has long been answered. The question can also be answered by considering that God is the all-knowing designer of mankind and that he has caused all their parts to be "down in writing" (from Psalms). All that a competent examiner has to do to see whether God designed mankind to have a range of motivations is to look over the "design specification document". God himself can certainly make the specs available. If a questioner is incompetent to examine the specs, then God wins. If a questioner questions the specs, God can enlighten him. To claim that only a field test could answer the question of motivation, as You Know and his beloved Society do, is to claim that God is incompetent.

These arguments apply equally well to the claims of certain other Christians that God needed to demonstrate anything in order to prove to Satan or anyone else the nature of mankind.

Finally there is a moral question: If God did indeed do as the Watchtower Society claims, then God is a monster unfit to rule. An illustration proves this easily. Suppose a human father is challenged by an adversary that his young children only appear to love him, and obey him only because they're afraid of him, and that given the opportunity they would dump him toute suite. The father challenges this claim and the adversary says, "Let me do anything I please to your children and we'll see who is right." The father says, "Ok" and the adversary proceeds to threaten and torture and deceive the children, who of course are not let in on the challenge. He kills some of the children in the process. The children see the father looking placidly on, watching their torture, and they conclude that the father doesn't love them. Who won the challenge? The father or the adversary? Did the father demonstrate love for his children? Of course not. He demonstrated the opposite, and so the adversary won.

Of course, a JW will object to the above illustration, but all of their objections will evaporate, as can be shown by a demonstration: Anyone who thinks the above illustration is poor is welcome to challenge it and demonstrate why the father proves himself loving by allowing his children to be tortured and killed by a criminal.

I think the creator/s of the cosmos are learning, evolving if you will. The universe evolves as well. It fits w the imperfection and suffering. It fits w the scientific evoluionary theory. It fits w the unimaginably strong forces that are creating and destroying in the universe at this very moment. It avoids the fairy tale of earth having at one time been perfect.

We all suffer becouse we sin. Being in the imperfect state that we are in now brings calamity. Only until we are under Jehovahs rule will there be perfect conditions. Yes, God is all powerfull but he is also a God of love, wisdom, and justice. He wants mankind to choose to do good or bad hence the tree of knowledge for good and bad at the garden of eden. They had a choice. If we want to do bad we can. If we willingly know it is bad we will reap what we sew.

    Well Bleep,
I will agree with you on one thing. We are suffering because of Adams transgression. But im not waiting on God to start ruling or taking over sometime in the future. He's ruling right now, and in total control. Just ask Nebuchadnezzar,(Dan4:17,35)he taught that ole boy a lesson. Yes, Adam and Eve did have a choice, they were perfect, free, moral agents. But look at Gen.2:17 "for IN THE DAY THAT YOU EAT THEREOF, YOU WILL SURELY DIE" he didnt say down the road you will physically die, there was something else going on right at that moment. A spiritual death, a severing of communion with God. So, in that day, adam died, and plunged everyone from that point into sin and ruin. So are we free moral agents? 1)we're not free from sin, 2)we certainly aint moral 3)who are we agents of? Yes, i believe we are given a choice to do good or evil, but what is the ole natural man gonna choose? Evil. There is none Righteous, NO NOT ONE.(Romans 3:10-19) Thats why we are only made righteous in Gods substitute, JESUS CHRIST.(Romans 3:25)
To Answer your question Dutchie, i would have to say read Romans 9:21-23. To make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory. When paul wrote this, he knew the natural response would be "its not fair" so back up in verse 18 thru 20, and he sums it up by saying Its Gods business to have mercy on whom he will. In fact the whole chapter 9 of Romans deals with Gods sovereinty in choosing, and showing mercy on whom he will.

In that day Adam did die. 1000 years is a day to God. He lived 900 some years. Look back and you will see at my first post at that page. We are free to do good or bad. That is why Adam and Eve and many more have done wrong. Free Morals. The reason we live only 80-90 years is becouse we are copies of imperfect humans. And God gave man a shorter time to live since there are some kings that were very bad.

Being in this sinfull state that we are ALL in is not good. But>>We are washed clean with the purchaser Jesus. We can pray to God threw Jesus.
Never again will mankind and Gods followers will have to go threw such a sinfull state again. This will be the only time we will have to prove Satan a liar and the father of the lie. He told Adam and Eve "is it really so that you will die?, For if you eat of the fruit you will become like God and know good and bad." Even at such a sinfull state we can still praise our heavenly father God. :) That was the question raised by the father of the lie. Can we still love him being immortal and dirt? sure we can. And he wants us all to be in the book of life.

    Hey Bleep,
Do you think it is possible then, that we can please God? If i choose to do good, will that secure me a sort of good standing with God? Yes, i believe we can love him even though we are dirt, but "herein is love, not that we loved him, but that he first loved us" We are incapable of loving God and worshipping him, left to ourselves. Romans 8:8 "The carnal mind is enmity(deep seated HATRED) againts God" That means untill God the Holy spirit, gives us new life in christ, (circumcision of the heart)we are in opposition to God. When Yaweh told adam "in the day you eat,you will die" he was talking to adam wasnt he? If he meant a thousand years, then adam would not have died that day, but would have lived perfect for another 900 years or so, and probably lived it up in the garden untill he died, or was excommunicated at the last minute. So when he said IN THE DAY, it meant that very day he bit down on that fruit. Please explain to me how WE (not adam, because he truly was) are FREE MORAL AGENTS. Left to myself, without God, i will live exclusively in the FLESH. Yes, i will fornicate, adulterate, steal, lie, cheat,ect....and even though i might not physically go out and commit such things, MY MIND DWELLS ON THEM. This is my NATURE. And Jesus said to even lust after a woman in the heart was to commit that sin, showing that NO ONE IS WORTHY OF SALVATION BASED ON THEMSELVES!! So left to myself, im not very MORAL am i? In fact, left to myself naturally, im in BONDAGE to sin. And since naturally, my flesh craves these things, i sure couldnt consider myself an AGENT of anyone as HOLY as God!! In fact, only christ could. Therefore, i am ONLY RIGHTEOUS IN CHRIST JESUS. He said unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and pharisees, you will IN NO WISE enter into the kingdom of God. Yep, were ALL in BIG trouble without Gods substitute. I myself, prefer the stance of a mercy beggar. There is nothing Good in me, and if i am to stand on judgement day on my own merit, than i know where ill be going. "Oh wretched man that i am, who will deliver me from this body of death"?

Thanks Sand, I hope I'm making some sence. In the last post I said Immortal but I meant mortal. We are all mortal being sinners. It is a constant struggle to stay clean, but it can be done. Why not try to be holy now instead of waiting for judgement? We can have more of a chance to recieve the gift which is the real life. And yes Jehovah loves us even though we are dirt. Unconditional love which is the greatest love of all. He gave his sone to use so we can gain life again. He also created us threw his image, having some of his fine qualities. So it is possible to please him. Did you know he is sad if we displease him?

Adam was perfect so it took along time for his body to degenerate and return to dust. He slowly got broken down since we are well made. Just think of the many ways the body helps us regenerate cells. He was the first copy of man.

Any other questions of my religion and understanding are welcome.

We are not being judged since we are imperfect. When Jesus Becomes King he will have the 144,000 preasts and judges to be there in the thousand year reign. Those people are being anointed right now and will have a heavenly calling. When all 144,000 are dead then the time of this system will be over. All will be restored to perfect life at that time, even the bad. Any evil doers at that time will have to be judged and put to death yet one last time. It is called the second death. I am not sure if they will be able to live One thousand years like Adam did.
