A case of religious fervour overriding ' normal human behaviour;...compassion, understanding, empathy forgiveness and most of all ,.love,

Unfortunately religious zealots see their strangely ' god ' driven behaviour as normal vindication .

    How sad for the victims..

Secular governments must priorities justive for these victims even if it means upsetting the religions who are culpable.

I think you are mixing up a different case from Sudan.

That wasn't an honour killing it was the state passing a death sentence on a pregnant woman for marrying a non-muslim...

Such sexist Laws, it only seems to be the women that are charged. The men can beat their wives and girlfriends and sisiters and daughters, they never get charged, but if a woman fights back against these oppressive Laws, they are charged, killed, or even put to death by the state.

It looks good for the Sudanese prisoner that she may escape the death sentance, sadly it looks like she is facing jail time for a long time though because she has broken the law, albeit an unjust law. I am inscensed.

Sadly a few seeking asylum in this country sometimes marry a man from their own culture and still have to endure oppression. I want to do more, I have applied to volunteer at Asylum link and the CAB, I really hope I can make a difference in a womans life, even if it is only one woman. Every woman counts.

CNN reported that the Pakistani woman was pregnant:

Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- Relatives of a pregnant woman beat her to death with bricks near a court building in eastern Pakistan after she married a man against their will, authorities said.

Farzana Parveen, 25, was attacked Tuesday close to the high court in Lahore by a group of about 20 people, including her brothers, father and cousin, police said.

Clearly, this religion is a relic from our violent, superstitious past and needs to go.

IIt's sad that so many christians are up in arms about this when they are just mirroring the actions of the god in the bible.

Bible god encourages stoning people... especially ones own children. Allah is simply the same god of the christian.

Unbelievably, WT laments the fact that it cannot do the same thing to its members that are done under Sharia Law:

    w52 11/15 p. 703 Questions From Readers

"We are not living today among theocratic nations where such members of our fleshly family relationship could be exterminated for apostasy from God and his theocratic organization, as was possible and was ordered in the nation of Israel....

Being limited by the laws of the worldly nation in which we live and also by the laws of God through Jesus Christ, we can take action against apostates only to a certain extent, that is, consistent with both sets of laws. The law of the land and God’s law through Christ forbid us to kill apostates, even though they be members of our own flesh-and-blood family relationship."

    .

Religion just never seems to grow up....WT being among the most backward and childish.

c&a - Most christians have outgrown the barbarity of Yahweh. They only pay lip service to believing in the bible. Islam is like christianity was 1000 years ago.

Oubliette thanks for the info. You were correct about Farzana being pregnant not bitter, my apologies.

I guess the christians have just moved on from stoning to gay hate, rattlesnake ranging and the like.

But can i possibly understand the cause of this killing? My instinct is not to blame religion but the pull of the crowd. I mean my question is what did these family members think, what were there thoughts? They are not robots, they must have known what was going on around them. Did they not examine there conceience? Will they now? Were many only passive? Were they proud at the moment of death, thinking they belonged to Gods chosen people? How do they the individual account for there partisipation. Were they afraid of there own well being to not act?
