Seekc Einstein said " imagination is more important than knowledge". Also there is no set law or definition for reality,so whilst i dont agree with your statement " Atheism is a Belief System" i think your entiltled to it .
Again, I do not have to provide proof of no God anymore than I need to provide proof of there not being a invasion force of aliens from the Andromeda Galaxy lurking just behind Jupiters 6th moon!
The burden of proof falls upon the one making such a claim.
There is no proof of any God, however If I was shown some, I like any open minded reasonable person would reconsider my stance.
If I asserted that the planet Mercury houses a race of mutant giant 12 foot tall poison toads beneath the surface, would the burden of proof be on you to DISPROVE my claim or rather would the burden fall on me to prove it?
I don't believe in your giant toads. Does that mean I have just subscribed to yet another belief system?
Apparently We all belong to millions of belief systems and "religions".
I belong to the church of not believing in
The easter bunny, Santy Claus, the tooth fairy, Bigfoot, Mufasa from the lion king, Peter pan, tinkerbell, Captain Crunch, Spiderman, Darth Vader, Gandalf the Grey, Gandalf the White, Sauron, Harry Potter or Jehovah.
I had no idea I was so religious until I read this thread.
I also have lots of new hobbies - not train-spotting is my favourite
LOL Cofty :)
These comments say much about the people making them. Ironically they use the nomenclature of 'belief' and 'faith' as dirty words to try and annoy non believers.
You have decided to believe in a magical sky god, with a beard and powers. That's cool, have some bravery and admit it and admit it proudly. But don't then pretend like it isn't a monumental claim to have,by pretending it is equivelant to denying such a being exists.
By calling everyone that denies your deity 'believers' and 'religious' you are simply reducing your intellectual perspective to a school yard at break time..."I know you are, but what am I"
It is hard enough already to preach your beliefs in 2014 as your deity commanded you to, without declaring everyone that doesn't believe as believers. You are simply pushing them/us away further by outright lying. We KNOW we are neither religious or believers, how more technically inaccurate can you get when we deny the existence of a deity and mock the folly nature of faith. Hello.....
We know you understand our position, you are simply trolling, or sadly worse, ignorant beyond saving.
I think it says more about how YOU view a 'believer' in 2014 than we atheists do, by using it as a slur. I respect believers, not their beliefs. Why not simply do the same in return and respect our NON BELIEF even if you don't respect our reasons for it.
I'm confused.
If I was a Buddhist but didn't believe in faeries, then is not believing in faeries a belief system?
So, I could be both a Buddhist, and a non-faery-ist?

After reading NavyTown's comment. Maybe belief system isn't a good way to put it. Maybe you meant to say that believing there is no god is a belief. If you add in that a person who believes there is no god, usually has alternate views of how the material universe got here, how life began, how the living things we see today came to be as they are, what counts as ethical, what happens at death, then I guess you could say it is the person's system of beliefs. I don't take it that you meant it's necessarily a religious system of beliefs.
