Oub -- okay, blow it out your arse..................... hey, if you wanna be crude, go ahead. It shows your true colours.
Hmmm, I guess that some men may feel threatened by an empowered woman. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Well, I just think I shuold let all you Jehovah's Witnesses play in your own yard.
Cofty, you win........ go ahead and browbeat all the religious people ........ omg .. you are so WISE. and the msg is: smarten the hell up, you damn Xtians, you are stupid dolts.
I used to love this place, now it is only somewhere that I come because I am stuck in the house, too sick to get out. But go ahead, make this into an argument space,,,,,,,,,,,,, let's not have any social support or fun... it's merely a place to argue about atheism and such........... I feel tired by reading your constant persecution of the Xtuians on board and it makes me almost ashamed to be an atheist.
g'nite and good bye

Talesin,
You have a PM.
HappyDad
Talesin this thread was not directed at you. It was inspired by the repeated actions of SCO and a failed attempt by PM to help him see how inappropriate his actions were.
For some reason you took it personally.
I wonder why?
let's not have any social support or fun...
Look at my recent thread list for copious evidence to the contrary
I find it highly distasteful.
The people that use it, usually save it for when they want to be personal e.g. when intellectually trapped in a corner or having been embarassed by someone else proving them incorrect.
It speaks more for their maturity and lack of perspective to throw it about in a JW recovery forum such as this and ironically says much about why they likely fiitted in so well in the judgmental, vocal, egotystical world of Watchtower.
Yeah, I see what I did there...
Also Talesin, I have to mention something...there is a difference between strong women/men and rude women/men.
As for the use of the word 'persecution'........wow, just....wow!
Hmmm...interesting OP. As someone who was never been a Witness I do see on JWN examples of black and white thinking, uncomfortableness with uncertainty, the need to be right and prove those of a different opinion wrong, and all-encompassing beliefs systems, that I don't see in my everyday life. This may be because I am not on any other internet forums and this is a characteristic of internet forums or it may be because learning TTATT may not completely dispel JW pattterns of thinking. This may either be because particular ways of thinking were imbedded while in the 'Truth'; or because the thing that made the 'Truth' attractive was because it satisfied a particular need or preference; or a combination of these two possibilities.
Obviously the posters on JWN encompass a huge range of experience in terms of how they have evolved since learning TTATT but I think it is not unreasonable to expect that for some old habits die hard. And is it wrong if someone is exhibiting JW behaviours to call them on it? I have done this - was that wrong? Is it hurtful - possibly but if it is warranted and it causes that person to think about how they view the world and challenge themselves then is it bad? And if is not fair, then it can be ignored as another poster suggested. Is it impertinent for me, who was never a Witness to challenge behaviours as showing Witness tendencies? Perhaps but am I am not entitled to my opinion? If you think I am wrong tell me and tell me why. Should it be Taboo? If so, we might end up like Fawlty Towers: 'Don't talk about his/her JW past!' Which would seem odd given that is what is common for most people on JWN.
As I said in my OP there are obvious examples when somebody is still thinking like a JW. Apocalyptic thinking or judging "worldly" people for instance. There are valid exceptions to Godwins Law. That is not my objection.
It is used frequently as a cheap shot.
As somebody who was never a JW you should not do it IMO.
Cofty, yours is one of the most merciless and vicious tongues on this board.
I'm surprised you're trying to tame the tongue of others.
