In a recent Email conversation that I had with a JW Friend, he brought up,the Holocaust, as proof that JWs were the True Religion. He said something to the effect of..

"Hitler Targeted, JWs because they serve Jehovah.. Hitler wanted them to renounce their faith as Witnesses, if the Witnesses didn't have the Truth why would Satan have Hitler Target them so Brutally"

I responded "Hitler put 6 Million Jews to Death, and a Few Thousand Witness's to Death, what does this mean?"

This is an interesting topic though.. I'm reading a book called "Why the Jews" This book publishes some studies about how much better Life is for Orthodox Jews as opposed to non Jews.. On average Jews Are far less likely to become alcoholics, beat their wives, divorce, commit Crime.

In addition to this Jews are the wealthiest National Group on Average in America, they are also the Best Educated.

The reason for this is attributed to their adherence to The Torah.

The point is.. Jehovah's Witnesses claim that "We are the only group on earth to be moral, have good families.. Blah blah blah" this is statistically wrong, and the Jews beat them out on all of these factors.

"Jews are the wealthiest National Group on Average in America,"

    Source? Methodology?

From my reading of the latest survey by Pew Research, Jews run a close second to the Hindus.

Particularly if you're trying to attibute their wealth to their adherance to the Torah. Now you're talking conservative Jews and they definitely were behind the Hindus. Reform Jews, who don't take the Torah as seriously, substantially edged out the Hindus for people making more than $100,000/yr. But conservative Jews were neck and neck with Hindus on the $100,000/yr category. And the Hindus totally came out ahead on people making more than $75,000/yr.

I'm curious where you got your numbers.

Interesting info - they run Vegas and I'm not talking about $100,000/yr. They definitely value education and the Mormans have been emulating them for several decades (according to a Morman).

The Orthodox Jews dedicate much time to their faith or at least a couple I know.

Some quotes from "Why The Jews" I'll find the source for the wealth statistics later today.

"though numbering just over 2 percent of the population,Jews have won almost a third of the Nobel Prizes awarded American scientists, are overrepresented in medicine, law, and mathematics by more than three times their proportion to the general population, in psychiatry by more than five times, and in dentistry by four times.

The two most significant studies of American Jews, the 1990 Combined Jewish Federation National Jewish Population Survey and the 2001 American Jewish Identity Survey, documented that American Jewish males are twice as likely as non-Jewish males to have completed a college or graduate degree, and American Jewish women are three times as likely as their non-Jewish counterparts to have done so. American Jews are twice as likely as non Jews to graduate college, and are represented among Ivy League students more than five times their percentage in the population. This Jewish passion for study in turn helps to explain why Jews have the highest income of any ethnic group in the United States.

This unique intellectual achievement is not due, as is sometimes alleged, to some innately superior intelligence among Jews, but solely and directly to Judaism. Though many Jews have ceased to keep the laws of Judaism, the belief in the need for education has remained a significant value for almost all Jews.

The relative absence of poor Jews has led many non-Jews to believe all Jews have money. But Jews have simply aided their needy more than other groups have aided theirs. This pattern continues. To cite one large-scale example, between 1948 and 1951, Israel almost doubled its population by absorbing more than 500,000, largely penniless, Jewish refugees who had fled the Arab world. The 650,000 Jews of Israel, with help from Jews elsewhere, housed, clothed, fed, educated, and provided a livelihood for these Jews. In contrast, at the very same time, an equal number of Palestinian refugees were left in great poverty by all the Arab states, and this never changed, despite the enormous growth of Arab oil wealth. It was non-Arabs who have provided the large majority of the Arab refugees’ aid. "

Not the exact study that I found but similar.

Data on education, employment, occupation and income for the total U.S. population come from the combined, weighted sample of respondents to NJPS and the National Survey of Religion and Ethnicity (NSRE). For more information on the NSRE, see the Methodological Appendix.

Relative to the total U.S. population, Jews are more highly educated, have more prestigious jobs and earn higher household incomes. The educational success and socio-economic status of Jews constitute a significant source of strength for the community and its organizations, with positive implications for charitable resources, cultural sophistication and influence in the public sphere.

More than half of all Jewish adults (55%) have received a college degree, and a quarter (25%) have earned a graduate degree. The comparable figures for the total U.S. population are 29% and 6%. Jewish men are more likely than Jewish women to have college degrees (61% vs. 50%) and graduate degrees (29% vs. 21%).

Proportionally, slightly fewer adult Jews are currently employed (61%) than in the total U.S. population (65%), reflecting the older Jewish population. More than 60% of all employed Jews are in one of the three highest status job categories: professional/technical (41%), management and executive (13%), and business and finance (7%). In contrast, 46% of all Americans work in these three high status areas, including 29% in professional/technical jobs, 12% in management and executive positions, and 5% in business and finance.

The distribution of household income among Jews, especially at the high end of the income scale, reflects their relatively high education levels and high status jobs. More than one-third of Jewish households (36%) report income over $75,000, compared to 18% of all U.S. households. Proportionally fewer Jewish households (22%) than total U.S. households (28%) report household income under $25,000. The current median income of Jewish households is $54,000, 29% higher than the median U.S. household income of $42,000. In 1990, the median income of Jewish households was $39,000, 34% higher than the median income of $29,000 for all U.S. households.

This would be a good counter argument for when witnessess claim to be a special people with regards to "blessings" or "persecution." IMHO, the LGBT (gay) community are by far the most persecuted group of people in human history. Jews are definitely up there in my book. Most of the perscution Jehovah's Witnesses have experienced throughout history was the result of radically aggressive propaganda. The Watchtower has a history of putting JWs in a bad position by making them preach a message that was/is vitrolic and spiritually violent in nature. Now, JWs are to be admired for their refusal to participate in radical regimes, nationalism and military service. All humans should have that right, however, much of their suffering could've been avoided had they simply read the bible for themselves, rather than allowing others to think for them.

Pew Research points out a correlation between income and education for both Jews and Hindus.

The more religious Jews aren't as well off financially as the more secular Jews, but still do quite well compared to the US population in general.

    Here's a link:

    http://www.pewforum.org/2009/01/30/income-distribution-within-us-religious-groups/

If you download the PDF of the entire report, you'll see Jews broken out into two groups: conservative and reform.

It also depends on how you interpet the stats as to which group does better.

If you say that $75,000/year and above is doing well, then the Hindus win out. 65% of Hindus vs. 58% of Jews (conservative & reform combined) make over $75k/yr.

If you decide to focus on those who make over $100,000/yr, then Jews (once again including the higher-earning reform Jews) beat out the Hindus. 46% of Jews vs. 43% of Hindus make over $100k/yr.

The stats I enjoyed the most from Pew Research relate to JWs. JWs are almost at the bottom of the pile when it comes to education and income. But, they're #1 when it comes to adults who were raised in a religion and then left it.

If you push education as a family and a culure your kids should do pretty well. If your culture says- pool your resources to lift all boats that culture will do pretty well.
