opusdei1972 my sister told them that we are not under the Law of Moses, but they replied that some principles remain.
No principles remain, according to Colossians 2:13-14:
"He kindly forgave us all our trespasses and erased the handwritten document that consisted of decrees and was in opposition to us. He has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the torture stake."
Seems the elders want to unerase the Law by taking it (and Jesus) back down off the stake.
If a new but similar rule was created in the NT, then this is how it should be viewed - a newly created law, not a resurrected old law.
Just because it is similar to an old law doesn't mean you can then go back to all of the references to the old law and resurrect those too, since Colossians says they have been "erased".
