    Hi friends,

It has been about two months since I have had anything to say. So I thought I would stop in for a few minutes. The last thing I posted about was getting married. Well things have been just fantastic since my wedding date.

I have also been busy with my new job. I am a Sheriff's Deputy at the local jail. The job is great, and I am glad to finally have a good job again since I was layed off in February.

So what did I miss when I was away?

Is this a light saber in my pocket or am I just happy to see you?

LOL, Jayhawk1, you had me going there for a minute.

I'm glad you are enjoying your marriage. That's the sweet part of life.

Glad you have a new job, too. You don't hit your light saber across the bars do you? Sure don't want you damaging your light saber

    welcome back,

Welcome back jayhawk. The Gophers won the NCAA men's hockey and wrestling tournaments. Basketball tournament -- I can't quite remember.

Say hi to the missus! Glad to see you're glad!!

Joy2bfree, my wife has a firm hold on my light saber.

Gopher, didn't Maryland win the NCAA Basketball tournament?
After the KU Jayhawks are eliminated from the tournament, I loose interest in it.

my god ... had me going for a minute then ... was just about to start the "free the jayhawk one" campaign as well ...

You've not missed anything - we've just been making idle chit-chat until you got back ... honest

BTW: Congrats on the new job - hope it's going ok and my condolences on the wedding thing ... I know how tough that can be.

Dead for sure if my better half sees this one !

Welcome back...what county do you work for? Is your goal to hit the street as a Sheriff? I know in San Berdoo you must do jail duty before you can go into the street....

    ThiChi,
I would rather not say which county. However, here it is much like you said. The Sheriff's Dept. prefers to hire recruits from the jail to go on the road, but sometimes that is not the case. Currently in the road class their are two recruits who have not worked in the jail, but do have extensive military experience. The other recruits came from the jail.

I taught Intro to Computers several semesters in the county jail here were we affectionately call the it Uncle Lou Sterret Justice center....Your favorite uncle that always has a meal and a bed for you if you want to pay a visit....heheh anyway it was very depressing because I knew some of those folks were in my class just to get out of the tank. Some couldn't read or write complete sentences, but they stayed awake and tried to listen and understand the things I was trying to explain to them. All I had was PS2's and hardly any software. I kind of felt like I was giving a talk...lecturing about better things that were out there, but not visible to them. They just had to take my word for it. I stopped eventually because it freaked me so..and I could get picked up for outstanding tickets even while teaching in the jail...would not have been pretty..heheheh... Do something nice for yourself as many times a week possible. I know its a stressful environment and you need all the pleasantness you can get.

    Sincerely,

    District Overbeer
