Is Jesus your personal Mediator? (answer is no unless they're anointed)

I'd wager most JWs think that Jesus is their mediator, only because while reading their bible they might be starting to understand its message and it is being written on their hearts. They forget that the WT is the only one that should be passing on any "messages" - especially the subliminal ones. Hey isn't subliminal advertising, against the law? Example - AIR FOR SALE!!

Hyglander: "No the fundamental question is, did he even exist. The answer is no".

Don't make statements you CAN'T back up. You have no way of proving it. Why don't you simply say....YOU don't believe it.There was that statement by Josephus about him.....not much, I realize.

To assume Jesus did not exist is to say, all writings about him were lies.....all of them!
If he did exist.....and if what he did fulfilled all that was said about the messiah in the old testament..the chances with all those things happening to just.....a 'wise man' is too slim.

Maybe you could prove....he DIDN'T exist.

    Meta,

May I add my voice to those who've expressed appreciation for the points raised by you in this post.

I feel inadequate in not having anything 'worthwhile' to add to what has already been 'said'.

Over the past several years I'd discussed with several prominent elders my own belief that Jesus was more than was described by the WTS i.e. a created spirit son of God, an angel. Rather, Jesus appeared to me from the pages of the Bible as the "only-begotten"; he came out of the Father, in much the same way as a mother gives birth to a child. Having come to that conclusion, it was logical to ascribe to Jesus the divinity that the WTS denies him, for he is the "only begotten Son. When I made it my stand to declare this belief, Mrs Ozzie was with me. Although several years have passed in which the borg left us alone, they've recently taken action, and its officers have taken delight in declaring that they "have our children" in their grasp. We thus have lost association with our own children. Why? Because we believe that Jesus is the King of kings.

    Cheers,
    Ozzie

A few weeks ago, discovery had an excellent show on about Jesus.

Many things were challenged and many were proven. One thing stuck in my mind, all this fulfilled OT prophesy talk etc. The narrator presented arguments from a secular point of view which helped to see the big picture. Jesus was supposedly very well versed in the OT. In order to make people listen, make changes, gather followers he was able to do things that people would easily link to the scriptures. Like going into the city through the east gate, riding on a donkey, etc. The thoughts behind the cleansing of the temple, the ramifications of the things he was saying that was ultimately his crime.
If this guy Jesus was just a clever, clever man, he certainly holds the record for most followers over the longest period of time. longer than the stones even!
The bible says that nothing will stop the church. The church being the group of believers, the body of Christ as written, it looks like Christ's form of christianity in its many colors & expressions is here to stay.
Not WT form tho, that small self fulfilling group cannot survive - even things hidden will be exposed.

Next to consider is that some people just do not have much temporal lobe activity. The more activity, the deeper/more frequent & significant spiritual awareness will be.

A little off the topic but.........
I will have to admit one thing. If Jesus was the calibur of a man the bible speaks of....would't Josephus have spoken MORE about him. He did upset the entire Roman/Jewish world.
If you were a historian at Jesus time.....would you have mentioned him more?

    I'm confused!

    Flavius Josephus
Jewish historian, born A.D. 37, at Jerusalem; died about 101. He belonged to a distinguished priestly family, whose paternal ancestors he himself traces back five generations; his mother's family claimed descent from the Machabeans. He received a good education, and association with distinguished scholars developed his intellectual gifts, more especially his memory and power of judgment. He also made himself fully acquainted with and tried the leading politico-religious Jewish parties of his age -- the Essenes, Pharisees, and .

Impressed by the outward importance of the Pharisees and hoping to secure through them a position of influence, he attached himself to their party at the age of nineteen, although he shared neither their religious nor political views.

    Founder of Religion Resigns

Thu May 23, 7:49 AM ET

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY (AP) - Founder, former Archangel and Chief Evangalist resigned from the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society on Friday.

Jesus H. Christ, formerly known as Michael the Archangel was quoted during a telephone interview that "he just wasn't recognized as the worlds savior anymore". He went on to site several instances in the Watchtower Society's publications where personal stories of longtime faithful members never acknowledged him and his contributions in their faith.

"I think it's just time for me to move on", stated a rather upbeat Christ. "I'm looking at a couple different offers but I think that I'm going to spend a little more time with my family first."

Insiders mentioned several possiblities for the Son of God's future citing The Church of Laterday Saints and the Church of Scientology. Neither would comment on the rumors, although both would gain credibility with the addition of Christ.

Cardinal Herve de Francesco stated that the Catholic Church would welcome the displaced Savior back with open arms stating that His return would help settle the current abuse crisis in the church.

Think of growing up and being a writer during the times of larsguy.
the impact of his teachings might not be recognized by important writers/journalists outside of his circle til years/decades later.
But his inner circle knows who he is.

It's pretty simple. The Empire has all but eliminated Jesus because he had A BEARD and LONG HAIR...

I think if I was a writer/historian/journalist, at that time....I would have checked in to the claims made by people who were starting an uproar...

like the uproar larsguy is creating?

or like the uproar by ex-Jws.
How many years have gone by - no one has listened, or cared, or understood.

Alot has been written, where would it all be if it were not for the internet, printing presses, both of which were not around 2000 yrs ago. There weren't even telephones!
