Yeppers, pretty stupid. That one question alone should prove that even the GB know that Holy Spirit ain't got nothin' to do with it!

I remember thinking when the elders asked me that question, "Why would you ask me that? Didn't you pray for Holy Spirit? If it's 'approved' then you should know that there is nothing that could 'disqualify' me!"

But as with all things of a cognitive dissonance inducing nature, I did what all good cult member do: I ignored it.

    I don't do that anymore.

This question alone is a big red flag that maybe this holy spirit thing is just a little bit bullshit.

LOL!! Lie to their faces. It actually works out better that way. You see, Jeehoober wants men who are willing to lie whenever necessary.

...and what is with the refusal to accept a resignation? What they gonna do? Hold back your last paycheque? I say if they sign you up for things after resigning, blow it off. Let them scramble.

ive seen the term elders in the bible, which mean the elders [elderly] of a tribe. the older men, the experienced ones with a few decades of expereince.

not any age man who are given stuff to do.

but ive not seen where the term ministerial setvant comes from.

"Ministerial servant" is just Watchtowerese for "deacon", from the Greek "diakonos" in the NT.

So, the holy spirit must go for external qualifiers, like dress standard and behavior of one's wife and children and "confessional" disclosures by poential elders determine whether the appointment goes ahead. In essence, the role of the holy spirit is easier to "police" than the willingness of the pre-elder to divulge private stuff that could call into question his appointment.

Oh, this would be truly hilarious were not the welfare of others in the congregation not at the mercy of many of these "holy-spirited" appointed dullards, drongoes and drunkards.

Over the course of 20 some years I was appointed 3 times, I turned it down each time. I never felt I had any kind of real training to take on all the responsibility that came with the position!
