I, too, had the fear of God going on - still do at times so must be habit.

It's interesting many xtians I know do not fear God and used to tell me that was not right which I couldn't understand. Maybe because they believe he'll forgive them.

Perry is right, fear has a lot to do with it. Laziness is encouraged of course, by the concept of the GB doing all the work and the thinking for you.

But they do have an abject fear of any "holding up to the light" of their beliefs and claims.

They simply "will not go there".

It is strange, Mrs Phizzy and I were discussing this very topic last evening as we enjoyed a pre-prandial Cocktail on the Terrace of Phizzy Mansion, overlooking the Ornamental lake and Japanese garden. ( alright, in reality we were sitting on our tiny Patio having a beer).

As I said to Mrs Phizzy, I simply cannot understand their fear of examining what they believe, Mrs Phizzy still professes a belief in god, so I said, "Well you don't fear what this old atheist says about that do you ?" and she agreed, but they are afraid, very afraid, of anything that opposes their view.

If Jehovah's Witnesses have the truth, why the fear ? Truth will withstand any scrutiny.

The root word of "cult" is culture. This makes anything anyone of us are involved in a cult, by definition.

Yet, a cult has become a convenient word many use that really means, "A believe or religious system that one does not personally ascribe to." It is an "emotional" and "subjective" expression.

The reason why JWs do not leave the WT organization is simple: It is the same reason why small children cling to their parents and do not separate themselves from them: Dependency on the parent.

Infants, small children and even adolescents rely on their parents for food, shelter, protection, etc. The child leaves the parent only when it can provide for itself, thus becoming independent.

JWs - and persons of ALL religious systems - are infants, small children, and adolescents in a sense. They depend of the parents feedings (teachings). Like children, they obey their parents and defend them right or wrong. Never allowed to mature.

Religious organization is the parent. It has millions of dependent children that she purposefully keeps infantile and kindergarten-level. It is not that JW cannot think, they think only the way the parent has taught them to think.

I am an African American and a ex-JW of more than 30 years (disassociated). If a small White child calls me by the N-Word who do I fault? The child or the parent who taught the child?

JWs - like members of all of the religious organizations - are innocent. It is the parent organization that is the culprit. Even Jesus echoed this at Matthew 9:36 where it is written:

"On seeing the crowds he felt pity for them, because they were skinned and thrown about like sheep without a shepherd."

This should be the view of Christs true disciples. Our view should be as his. He viewed people as sheep (who are child like followers) without a shepherd.

Yet, many of you show immaturity and a lack of real understanding what being a disciple of Christ is. You love to call other religious organizations cults because you happen not to like them or what they teach is not mainstream and not in sync with what you "personally" believe. You hurl insults. You create this "us against them" mentality. Rather than view God's creation - man - as sheep without a shepherd as Christ did.

What is wrong with you? You should be on a much higher spiritual level than that. It is not about being a JW, or Mormon, or Catholic, or Baptist, or Seventh Day Adventist, or even Christian, etc. These are just man-made titles which are divisive. It is about discipleship to the Master Christ. What did he teach? How did he treat people? Even those who hated him.

Many of you miss the boat and you deceive yourselves if you think Christ will recognize you. It is not that Christ chose us, it is that we chose him and chose to listen to what he taught, walk his walk, and talk his talk. And, treat all persons - even enemies - with love as he commanded us to do.

Those who have risen above the mire of this world will see what has happened to man; that he is indeed a sheep without a shepherd and rather than insult, we should have pity on them.

Ru, I think you believe you have the answers but it's not as simple as you suggest.

I am disallusioned about the human race in general.. Delusion seems pretty wide spread ... Example, lots of middle aged women and men, with NO education or qualification have decided to become "Healers". They freely dispense Herbal,"holistic" "natural" "Cures" and medical advice and claim they are "spiritual" and have all manner of "healing circles", meditation groups and conduct their own personal versions of Yoga, in classes that injure people becaues the teacher hasn't a clue as to what they is doing. They become "nutritional supplement advisors", in Heath Stores. Instead of looking at failed opportunities and wasted lives, these people find hope and place, in delusion.

Religions with lots of rules and doctrines, are all delusional and convinced of their own "rightness". A special delusion is found in close knit groups. Remaining in the "Trance" of being a self assured Jehovah's Witness is far easier than facing reality and trying to find a new way to live and connect in this world. Social connections are built up over years and some feel "safe" and at home, and are shallow thinkers to begin with. Its only those who are honest and actually analyze and think deeply about things who suffer the pain of realizing what a huge mistake they made, how deceptive the GB is, or what a Cult the WT really is. In spite of knowing its a phony delusion, the effort of leaving is just too much for many.

Before college, I had no idea of how to examine the doctrines. I had a sense of unfairness, that a loving, decent God would not act in that manner. I feared Jehovah and the brothers who could mess up our lives.
