The new service year is starting and 100 years of waiting comes to a peak in October 2014, so it's probably an announcement to give all your money and time because the end is so so so so near, much nearer than previously.

I can see this going down quite badly in the congregation here.
Many folks are still feeling the cost of the regional (and some international) convention accommodation costs, and have the one-day assembly accommodation costs coming very soon too.
They didn't do the donation slips at the congregation here yet (no, it doesn't have a loan and no resolution was passed) so it will be interesting to see what they do, if the letter stipulates they must do the donation slip thing.
