In the 80's it became a trend to put the WT logo on the front of the speakers podium where others put a cross. I always hated that and spoke against it to the body of elders. I shut up and it was put there anyway untill a KM came down that said not to do it. They did it at the local assembly hall as well. The coprorate watchtower logo had no place on the platform or the speakers podium. This info could be useful in exposing all the JW.Org worship for what it is. Anyone know when and where that was? Maybe it was an elders letter? I think it was a KM though. Thank you in advance if you know where its at. Anyone remember that edict?
In what KM or literature were JW's told to not put the WT logo on podium or buildings?

Question Box
▪ Is it appropriate for congregations or individuals to use the logos of legal corporations used by Jehovah’s Witnesses?
A logo is a name, symbol, or trademark designed for easy and definite recognition. The Watch Tower logo is representative of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania and other corporations used by the organization. The Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses uses an open Bible in its letterhead. Other corporations used by Jehovah’s Witnesses have different logos.
Congregations or individuals should not use logos or names of the organization’s legal entities, or variations thereof, on their Kingdom Halls, signs, letterhead, personal objects, and so forth. Such use of the organization’s logos may cause confusion for public officials, publishers, and others about the legal affiliation of the congregation with the organization’s legal entities. Similarly, written correspondence could be misinterpreted as being approved or sent from the world headquarters or the branch office.
The Watch Tower logo, or a variation of it, should not be used in future Kingdom Hall projects even if the Kingdom Hall is owned by a Watch Tower entity. Congregations with existing Kingdom Halls that bear a logo are not required to make immediate changes to signs or designs, since such changes may involve major alterations and much time, effort, and expense. However, consideration should be given to making a change if it would be minor and would not require extensive work. Otherwise it can be made when the building or sign is scheduled for renovation.

Thanks Blondie. I know there was on in the late 80's too I am sure of it. I blew off the WT and its meetings long before 09. Wasn't sure how to find it. Logo didn't work in the search and neither did corporate. Of course, I only have the 08 CD. UGH. thanks again. Discuss

The difference is whether the WT Logo is endorsed by the G.B. or not .

I swear to Allah or Baal or whoever, that if I had seen that in person, I would have vomited all over the front of their suit.

Unfortunately, I think the 09 KM was concerned more with legal liability issues. It didn't condemn the practice on the grounds of idolatry. I could see a Witness defending the practice of using a logo by saying "mother" has decided the JW.org logo does not create the same kind of confusion surrounding legal affiliation that a corporate logo would.

An assembly hall in Australia used to have a giant Tetragrammaton above the stage...
It was removed in the late 80's or 90's as it was deemed to be a form of "idolatry"
Now though, you watch...there will be a huge JW.ORG put there in its place...
Because of course that's not idolatry now is it!!?? But the so called hebrew name of god is???
