Quick, answer this question: What was the meaning behind: MILLIONS NOW LIVING WILL NEVER DIE?

Cunning and pretentious marketing by owners and operators of a religious publishing house ( WTS. )

What better way to sell an idea or literature than to exploit the already established belief and acceptance of the bible

    by the present general population.

    .

You do bring up an interesting question Terry in that who was Rutherford referring to as the spoken about "Millions" ?

I know perhaps he was referring to the sought after millions that were to buy and read his books.

What was the meaning behind anything for a PUBLISHING COMPANY?

You said "...a contribution of 25c a copy." That was the only meaning- back when a quarter was worth something.

By the time that one failed, they were selling other things.

Grandiosity is the foundation of hubris.

Hubris is to Watchtower what humility is to Trappist monks.

Delusions of grandeur are supported--not by evidence--but by mere claims of success, as unfounded as they always are.

The JW reading of such razzle-dazzle cannot help but be impressed by the confident tone of the Narcissists!

Sorry to hijack, but where /when did Rutherford say he'd made an ass out of himself, and is it a source you could quote to another witness without coming over all apostate!?

This video although a bit long goes through some the documented teachings the WTS. propagated prior to 1925.

The actual article of Rutherford saying he made an ass out himself is somewhere maybe in this video. ???

F Franz gave a talk once saying that exact same thing.

    .

One thing to take note of this supposed dating of the End Times and the start of great tribulation,

C T Russell once used 1874 as the year Christ returned and that 1914 would be the year of the start of the End Times

or a newly created Dispensational era for mankind .

    .

When 1874 looked like a bomb that didn't go off a new year was bought up which was 1914.

What one can see here in all truthfulness is amateur bible theologians playing and promoting dates out of weak speculation

that had little real biblical support.

    .

Perhaps enthralled by these theological ideas themselves but aslo concerned about what would be appealing to the

    readership of their own publications.

Unfortunately the WTS. grew in power from the original state it was in when C T Russell was at the helm.

He was not particular for organized dogmatic religions per say. When the WTS did grow in power it evolved into

a highly controlled and regimented organized religion. Zealous for power and wealth rather than true honest bible interpretation.

That's why to this day people are closely and carefully screened for their loyalty and subservience to the leaders of this organization.

This trouble started by no other than J Rutherford when he personally announced that Christ reviewed all devoted Christian organizations

and said that Christ had chosen the WTS. his organization, above the others. (1919) This was the start of bad things to come and all the

preceded lies and corruption that was to continue in the following years.

Brother Rutherford meant nothing more than what Jesus meant when he said things like:

“EVERYONE WHO LIVES AND BELIEVES IN ME WILL NEVER DIE. DO YOU BELIEVE THIS?.” (John 11:26)

My dad was born in 1925 and he'll be 89 soon, still waiting for Armageddon.

There are still millions of 89+ year old people alive. So ole Rutherford still has a shot.

I'm not putting any money on that bet though.

Good quote and pictures. Now 3 additional quotes and pictures that would nicely supplement that are.....

    1. The printed material that says that he never said 1925 was certain, only a possibility and it's everybody elses fault for taking it so seriously.

    2. The quote about how dead anointed brothers such as Russell are directing the work and involved in the new light.

    3. The quote about how he never said such a thing that any dead anointed brother was doing anything and whoever thought such crap is a dumbass.

"...Rutherford quit predicting dates. In fact, referring to that prophetic failure he later admitted, 'I made an ass of myself.'" (The Watchtower, 01. October 1984, p. 24)
