FHN, I heard that weather in Michigan is colder than in Czech Republic from people who immigrate there. Even winter is more wet and humid than in Central Europe. I am used to cold weather, but we do have long bloom season in the southern Moravia where my grandparents grew mellons, wine, almond trees, peaches, and appricots. I dont mind snow in the mountains and I used to ski alot. But winter should not last more than three months. I prefer Mediterranean weather like in Italy or Croatia, with a lot of sun, dry summer, moist spring and short, snowy winter. I love magnolias, and honeysuckle, but my ultimate favorite are camellias. I have dozen of them, but squirrells love to eat their buds, so it is hard to have their flowers for show. One of my camellia is about to bloom and will bloom through fall till first frost.

Autumn is my favorite time of year. Love the cool, crisp air, the beautiful leaf colors, the smell of decaying leaves, fall festivals, going to the mountains, apple cider, etc.

I don't like long winters. I especially do not like black ice on parking lots, sidewalks and on roads. I don't like cleaning snow off my car: ice is even worse. I hate that I must get bundled up and wear shoes to go outside. Going for a quick trip to the store is a pain.

I was born on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. I lived in Mobile, AL until I was almost seven. Then we moved down to Morgan City, LA, where I lived until the summer I was 11. I love the bright sunshine on the Gulf, but not the very humid heat of summer. I lived in Hawaii, which has beautiful weather, all year long. They have bright sun like the coast. They say they have two seasons, Summer and Winter. There is no autumn or spring. Winter time it got down to 62 Fahrenheit. Not very cold! But they wear light jackets in "winter."

Fall for me is in my childhood is associated with bright blue skys and pleasant temperatuers, wine harvest at my granny village, chestnuts, and mushroom picking with my father in the mountains. However, the winter always arrived quickly and November was depressing time of the year. My biological lived in Carpathians mountains; he took me a lot into the woods to hike and climb in the fall. We also had to ski a lot to get around. Winters in Eastern Europe were brutal from time to time where temperature dipped as low as -30C (-22F) and freeze could arrive quickly at the start of November. At least we did not have to do any field service in that time of the year. Sometimes there was snow up the hills and nothing in the valley or in the city.

I love Halloweens, pumpkin and squash soup/sauces, and change of the leaves. My lawn is recovering from the summer heat, and I am waiting for encore azalea to bloom. Camelllia open their flowers much later around October for next six weeks. I love their scent.

Well i think Autumn is really quite pleasent, not sticky and humid like in August. In fact temperatures here can still be very warm.....Anyway what ever the weather i say as long as we keep on walking, and smiling...then come on the snow.
