"Oh btw: now they are discouraging us from getting to know our fellow brothers and sisters worldwide...as we can neva be too sure who's who. We should be content to know our local brothers and sisters and spend time with them, encouraging one another. Hmm....doesn't sound like international brotherhood to me."
Violet, I've only been "out" about two and a half years now, but the big "push" back then was always to "widen out" your personal fellowship and cultivate as many (JW of course) friendships as possible, here, there, and everywhere!!!!
"The WT leaders are running scared. Really scared."
Hey Farkel.....Ya THINK SO??? From "widen out and embrace your Brothers worldwide"....to "watch your backside" in just a couple of years....Cantcha just SMELL the fear?
Hee Hee Hee........
Elders treat the sheep like mushrooms--keep them in the dark and feed them manure.
Matty is right, there is no mention of the Internet in either UK's May or June's KM.
It must be a preemptive warning regarding Dateline and sites like this. But as Dateline is a US show they must assume that it won't raise a problem in Europe.
Could somebody scan in that article from the KM please? I seriously could use a laugh! How long are the "sheep" going to be docile in the face of this laughable hypocrisy?
"Vaccination has never saved a human life. It does not prevent smallpox." The Golden Age, Feb 4 1931 p. 293-4 - The Sacredness of Human Blood (Reasons why vaccination is unscriptural)
I attended a one-day-convention with my JW wife last weekend.

People were warned against chat rooms. These were described as places that brakes up marriages (people meet and flirt). (I'm quite sure porn was mentioned too).
But I think WE know what they ment...
But actually they're quite smart. Typically only the husband OR the wife is interessted in computers/internet. (Most often the husband i think). So statements like the one above can make the not-so-frequent-user-off-internet part of a marriage suspicous, and perhaps questioning what his/her spouce is spending time on the internet for. This could make JW's looking on sites like this one (and not prepared to discuss it..) lower the activity...
Knowing a little bit of the British character, I sometimes wondered if the df'ing thing was as hard-line over there as it is in the States. You affirmed what I had already suspected.
As we all know, the growth of the WT in recent years has primarily been in the Third World, where access to info is limited. Hopefully some of them will find out the truth about the truth before too much damage is done to them. It is a shame that the WT is preying on such persons, baptizing them after a six month study in the Knowledge Book, which doesn't even begin to give you any knowledge of what you're in for.
I have skimmed through it and see no mention of the internet in the outline for the meeting the week of May 20 nor in any other section of the May, 2002 US English edition of the KM, including the four page insert.
