removing the obstacles to their coming forward and seeking help, is not only the right thing to do, but it would also advance efforts to protect children from harm

BS. What obstacles? Treatment programs exist and people participate in them all the time.

Society should continue to have the strongest disdain for this behavior and continue to pressure people with these urges to work to eliminate those urges.

    Is it sick? Absolutely.

Pedophilia/Sexual child abuse is rape. I think this is why some in the world think it is not as bad as rape because all they hear is Pedophilia or child abuse. My 2 cents worth. Still Totally ADD

" Pedophilia/Sexual child abuse is rape."

The first is not, the second is. This article is speaking directly to you and people like you.

I feel sympathy for pedophiles because, like most deep-rooted sexual attractions, they have no choice in the matter. And, probably the vast majority of people who have those urges don't act on them, ever (going by things such as the ridiculous high rate of pedophilic porn search terms as compared to the rate of reported crimes, or historical and social instances where peodphilia was actually common). The inability to have honest dialogue about the issue without people going into rage-kneejerk mode, or the inability of people to distinguish between pedophilia and child abuse/sexual assault only makes the problem worse, as it keeps it far more hidden.

The sex drive is the strongest drive in an animal, isn't it? Besides maybe protecting offspring and self-preservation. So maybe #3. Well, imagine being the poor sucker whose genes tell him to be attracted mainly to kids.

That being said, the conscience should prevent them from acting much on that instinct because they should know that it's damaging to children and deeply upsetting to parents.

It's my personal suspicion that pedophiles who actively molest children are actually a combination of pedophile and sociopath.

However, to some degree they are probably also rationalizing desperately in order to be able to fulfill their basic instincts. Humans are remarkably good at rationalizing behaviors that come from deep-seated needs. So it could be that the inner conflict between conscience and pedophiliac instinct sometimes results in a deadening of the conscience, in effect making someone who was not born with sociopathy into a functionally sociopathic person.

I'm so sick of people labelling crime

I loved that scene in Breaking Bad when Jesse Pinkman lashed out in his group therapy session for always "accepting" people the way they are.

It was a great scene. At the end the therapist had to admit he was not "okay" with what Jesse was doing despite how it made him feel

sometimes things are just plain wrong. Label it all you want, at the end of the day if anyone sexually abuses my kids I will cut out the pedo's stomach and feed it back to them and i will sleep like a baby at night

^^^You actually fantasize about doing things like that? I mean, you thought of the act, and came up with that as an appropriate response in your head beforehand, and are happy with that. That's horribly creepy. I don't fantasize about killing people that do harm to myself or others; in fact, I would HOPE that my spur of the moment response would be not to do so.

Good thing, at least, in your case, "thought crime" isn't punished, right? Woops.

how did you get that I 'fantasize" about killing people? your using logical fallacy to distract from your lack of an intelligent argument.

god, I hate idiots like you

If you came up with a descriptive method of killing someone, you by default, fantasized about that because you constructed that entire scenario in your mind. That's how I "got" it - it's literally what you did.
