"You anger Roku, he smite you"
Is that letter for real, or is that just a spoof you made up? Because that last paragraph . . .
We have also contracted with an outside company, Roku , to make it possible to view JW
Broadcasting on a normal television by means of Roku streaming players, including the Roku 1,
Roku 2, Roku 3, and the Roku Streaming Stick. These products can be purchased online or at
retail stores.. . . screams of sacrilegious commercialization. Why is Jehovah's Organization (TM) having a contract with a worldly company and even advertising them to JWs in a letter sent to congregations? I can see Jesus making a whip to beat the members of the GB while saying: 'Stop making my Father's house into a market for Roku!'
So true, but you gotta hold online apostates responsible for this bit of FULL DISCLOSURE--JW STYLE. There was a time not so very long ago when the bit of Roku dealmaking would never have been included in a BoE letter or letter to congregations.
In bygone days, before the interwebs, when the only means of even attempting to awaken any minds by exposing TTATT was to picket conventions or send anonymous snail mail, information dissemination was virtually non-existent for ex-dub freedom fighters. Not so any longer. Now that the intricate details of all their backroom shenanigans are plastered online before they can declare "The end is [still] near!", the WTS deems it'd better fully disclose what it considers the least damaging of its "strategery" (see The Linguistic Contributions of former U. S. President George W. Bush) themselves before JWN does and accuses them of concealing their true Babylonish ways.
Who can possibly still believe the WT organization isn't keenly attuned to forums such as this?
AMNESIAN
Captive 7/1972 - 2/2001
I have it on my Roku so I can watch it on the big telly
The US letter definitely mentions Roku by name.
I wonder how much Roku has paid the WTS for the publicity? Talk about "product placement"!
Please. Anybody can get a Roku channel. Just announcing another method of consuming the narrowcast. Roku is the most popular streaming box and is also the easiest way for non-tech, non-computer type people to consume online video as it most closely resembles TV. Right at the bottom of the screen I saw it also says 'you might be interested in...The Mormon Channel!' LOL
Wouldnt Roku be considered one of the "traveling merchants" to be destroyed along with the "wild beast" and "babylon the great"? The WT has now openly contracted with these "traveling merchants"? WHat did Christ do when the Jews mixed commercialism into the temple?
Is Roku like Apple TV?
Foku Roku
I can confirm that it most definitely is on Roku. Fully menu driven, allows to to watch the streaming or watch Video on Demand. Even has the three new songs (and Gawd, are they awful. The melody is stil "da da da da da da da" same note, rapidly sung.). You can also verify this, if you don't believe me, by going to the Roku website and doing a search for jw.

Hm, Roku, huh?
So they start mentioning private companies in Society letters, and collaborate with them.
Didn't the GB themselves turn down various offers from computer software companies to give them the rights for their translating program? So no, working with companies is not bad? Isn't the "JW Broadcast" a dedicated resource? How can they give the rights to a worldly company belonging to Satan's corrupt system?
WOW! Clicked on the Roku link above ... ads at the bottom of the page for other popular relgious channels ... Watchtower has now put itself right among what they refer to as Babylon the Great ... no part of the world indeed
