1914. 100 years. So what?

Well, I know it's 100 years since Jesus did his invisible stuff in the sky. Or if you read the back of the new JW bible I believe it says 'about 1914'.

I spoke to a JW recently (one that still speaks to me), and I mentioned it's 100 years now and their smiley reply was: 'So what does 100 years have to do with it? It doesn't matter, we don't serve for a date.'

That's it isn't it?! The JWs have their 'overlapping generations(tm)' and 'About 1914(tm)' so they can rest easy in their warm and cozy delusion.

Why should 100 years be significant to them anyway? ('anyways'....for my cousins across the pond )

The JW reply does not surprise me at all. But I bet deep down they are thinking that it is getting way overdue, but they then counter that in their thinking by saying "We must be sooooooo much nearer now ! 100 years having passed is a good thing !".

All the pizzaz about JW.Org websites and T.V stations will serve to give them the impression that things are really ramping up.

In ten years time though, Phhhhttttttt, the deflation of millions of JWDubs will be audible.

It will be obvious by then that the GB is simply chasing technological developments in a game of catchup, and that the world seems to be getting to be a better and better place, not worse.

But then they can latch on to 2034, and keep up the "expectation" for another 10 years.

By 2034 this GB will be dead and gone mostly, so another GB will have to find a new strategy to keep an Apocalyptic 19th Century religion seemingly relevant in a mid-21st century world.

    Good luck with that boys.

Incredibly, the 'about 1914C.E.' reference at the back of the new version NWT makes no reference to Jesus being enthroned as King then.

This is a probaby a BIG hint that although they remain convinced of the 1914 chronology they are no longer absolutely sure that Jesus really became King then.

Phizzy - I wonder when the GB will actually catch up properly. They seem to react to trends very late rather than set them.

I will never be surprised that even after 200 years from 1914 that the same mindset will prevail amongst those trapped in cults.

The aliens could have landed or the real god could have shown up but they'll still be in their happy clappy bubble.

Jesus position reminds of poor old Prince Charlie, waiting forever his dear old mum to kick the bucket so he can have some real influence. Jokehover might actually let Jesus do something in the next 900 years of his reign.

.....of course I haven't forgetton Jesus and Jokehover aren't real!

Punk: did you see " yadda yaddas" above picture of Jesus suffering on the " tourture stake"

Many J.Ws believe in the artists interpretation of Jesus suffering.

Imagery of Jesus suffering can keep emotional people attached a thousand years hense.

I get told I'll burn in hell for all eternity or get lovingly murdered at armageddon(tm) if I say that. Don't you just love the compassion of Christians?!

Anyway ('anyways'....for my cousins across the pond ), the 100 year thing won't mean much to JWs as they probably won't connect the dots....because that would make Jar-hoover 'sad(tm)'....or they will make stuff up to fit in with JW.org TV.

'So what does 100 years have to do with it? It doesn't matter, we don't serve for a date.'

My reply would have been ... "First of all 100 years ain't 'soon'. Secondly, there are many 'dates' that have been in the history of this religion."

Then I would have seared him with the stink eye.
