  "A pleasant contrast to this type were the female Jehovah's Witnesses, called "Bible Bees" or "Bible Worms." Unfortunately, there were too few of them. In spite of their more or less fanatical philosophy, they were very much in demand. They worked as servants for the SS who had large families, in the Waffen SS clubhouse, even in the officer's club, but for the most part they worked on the farms. They needed no guards or supervisors. They worked on the chicken farms at Harmense and on different farm estates. They chose to work hard since this was Jehovah's commandment. They were mostly middle-aged German women but there were also a number of Dutch females represented. I had two older women working for more than three years in our household. My wife often said that she personally could not take better care of the household than these two women. They were especially touching in the way they cared for our children. The children hung on them as if they were members of the family. At first we feared that they might try to convert the children to Jehovah. But this never happened. They never spoke about religious subjects, which was truly surprising because of their fanatical attitude. There were also peculiar types among them. One of them worked for an SS officer and was able to anticipate his every wish, but absolutely refused to clean or even to touch his uniforms: not the cap, the boots, or, in fact, anything connected with the military. But as a whole, she was satisfied with her lot. By her suffering imprisonment for Jehovah, she hoped to gain entry into his kingdom, which was expected to come soon. Strangely, all of them were convinced that the Jews were justly suffering and had to die because their ancestors had betrayed Jehovah. I have always believed Jehovah's Witnesses to be poor lunatics who were happy in their own way." - End Quote

  Few JWs know how racist, especially anti-Semitic, the WT was in the years leading up to WWII. Rutherfraud attempted to curry favor with Hitler by being ouspokenly anti-Semitic. It's no suprise JWs reflected that same mindset.

  Other authors chronicle that JWs were often not the greatest people in their camps, unloving to others and among themselves, with in-fighting and shunning. The quote posted above probably reflects more on individual personalities as to duties, but is reflective of group-think when it came to sheepish subservience.

  It is possible that these German and Dutch JW woman were of Jewish back ground, did not have 'baptized grandmother' certificates. JWs were not routinely send to Extermination camps like Auschwiz/Birkenau , but the local detention facilities.

  Denouncing their Jewish fellow inmates may have been a survival reaction/front, to help to extend their own comfort zone. When living among the death of thousands per day, Amazing feats were performed to extend you own life by even another day. The camps were run by what amounts to a sceleton crew of characters like Hoess.

  The woman's perceived anti-semitism may not been malicious, but a "normal" JW reaction to the anti- jewish establishment tone of the Bible collection.

  The Nazies thought there were on Cosmic mission, to have a similar view/delusion, on the " be good as Jesus" side would really help your sanity.

  Maybe.

  But it is more likely that they were following the doctrine of the JWs of the time - replacement theology.

  They were expressing what it was that they actually believed - that their particular group of people were the ones in 'god's' favor and the Jews had been bad and so fell out of favor. They 'replaced' the Jews in 'god's' eyes.

  OrphanCrow, Anti-semitism at that time and place was not for the insistence of the jewish people to uphold the standard of the Torah, but it was pure racial hatred. Many Jws in Hitler's day could draw on the aura that the long- held evangelical teachings about Jesus represented. Most ordinary JWs were unaware of the maschinations in brooklyn, the the 'new light' du jour doctrines even.

  I don't have an issue with how these Women acted.. I would be a fool to say how I would at under such circumstances. Hower the observation that the Witnesses believed that the Jews "Deserved it" is SICK. This mag and dies the False Teachings and Hate Mingering if the Organization.

  Well. Lots (probably all) were very aware of the Society's stance of anti-semitism.

  The large convention that drew many of the JWs in Germany happened in 1933 well before any were imprisoned for not joining the army. It was at that convention that their replacement theology was solidified within their membership by both Rutherford and Knorr. It is obvious that all the JWs knew about it - they mounted a large tract campaign to make the whole of Germany aware of it. The JW women talked about in Hess' book had to have been blind, dumb and deaf not to know.

  i find it more believable that the women knew of the stance that was widely publicised in Germany at the time - both by the Watchtower and by outside sources. Their stance was that they did not oppose Nazi Germany and that they hated the Jews too.
