There is some truth to the story; but it did not lead to peace.

I was born and raised in a JW family - we ALWAYS had turkey for Thanksgiving.

As an apostate I make sure we ALWAYS have turkey for Thanksgiving. I am not so keen on turkey leftovers, but a fresly cooked turkey with stuffin is just great.

It's a day off, and that's a good thing. For most of the people I know, that's where "Thanksgiving" begins and ends. Here, it is the last long weekend before winter, and many folks take a trip to enjoy the fall colours. *shrugs*

IMHO, the only significant holiday is Remembrance Day on November 11, which is a reminder of the horrors of war. Not the glory of war, but the story of the many who died in the trenches, suffered from mustard gas, and the other unspeakable horrors that we humans perpetrate on each other, and the planet.

And yeah, a day off, beer and football? Who could ask for more, even if it is only the CFL..... :P
