I never understood why God would throw down Satan and his army of demons to this planet knowing full well the havoc they would cause on the human race.

It's like opening all the prisons in the world and letting the prisoners out.

God could have put Satan on Mars, but for some reason he chose Earth, hence the scripture: "Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath"

The irony is we are to ask God in prayer to deliver us from the very Devil he threw down to this planet. I just don't get it. Something is wrong here.

And whas more the standard dubbie "logic" dosent cover this either. Dubbies would say that the desert god is giving man time to rule himself. However he is allowing satan to interfere. Hardley a fair test

    a) A very unloving thing to do to dump this monster on humanity

    b) Proves it was written by a primitive society that thought their solar system was the whole universe

Well throwing Satan down to earth was a loving provision from Jehovah. By doing this he created immense suffering to humans to the point that they had no alternative than to believe in a "facacta" concept that only God will be able to provide relief for human suffering.

It is no great mystery. The human interpreters of the scriptures are stuck with Revelation chapter 12 which says " The great dragon was hurled down--that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him."

So human interpreters have to make that work with anything they say.

    That's it. End of story.

    Good point Navytown.

    Thanks for the links Bobcat.

I guess the Andromeda Galaxy is in better shape than us because the Evil did not go there.

Old thread I know but the topic is of interest to me. The book of Revelation, when analysed in light of the genere of apocalyptical literature of the period, seems to be a rework of Jewish symbols and mytheme. A great book on the topic :The Combat Myth in the Book of Revelation by Adela Collins.

and how about the Prometheus legend? The advancer of mankind chained to the earth's rock? and

the bannishments of the Nordic legends?

    cases of deja vue?

The bible mixup: why, HOW would the planet Earth be identified as a region of the spirit realm? Can you picture satan getting dizzy spinning in space every 24 hours, being dragged around the sun? from Halloween to Halloween? Hallo!
