Tonights book study in part is about Jesus throwing out the merchants and money lenders in the temple... How do they manage to tally that up with asking for funds for all their various projects? It seems hardly a meeting goes by without some kind of money plea? Don't they realise that they are doing the same thing that Jesus got so angry about and threw out of the temple? Don't any of the brothers and sisters tally these two up and see that something is wrong??

They don't try to. They are a big business and use mind control to enslave the rank and file(tm). I'm not even sure the bigwigs believe in god or the bible by the way they conduct their business.

The cult leaders want power, money and to protect paedophiles for whatever reason.
Don't they realise that they are doing the same thing that Jesus got so angry about and threw out of the temple?
Again, they don't care.
Don't any of the brothers and sisters tally these two up and see that something is wrong??
Perhaps. You need to remember that if they have negative thoughts about the paedo loving governing Body or their corporation that the mind control does it's work to make them stop reasoning.

I'm ok with the money part as they can't force us to give. The part which got to me was paragraph 8 onwards about man-made rules

Particularly the part about how the religious leaders of the day demonized non-jews and encouraged predjudice against them. I was sitting there thinking "is anyone else hearing/reading this?" How is the frequent encouragement to limit your association with non-JWs (often followed with condemnation of their acceptance of homosexuality, casual dating, premarital sex, etc) any different from this?

There is a story about a wife who comes home to find her husband in bed with another woman. The other woman gets dressed and leaves and the husband gets dressed and pretends nothing happened. The wife is upset and says "why were you cheating on me?" He responds "I wasn't cheating on you". She says "But I saw you with another woman in bed". He says "who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?"
This is how mind control works. They are constantly reinforcing the idea that they are so much better than other religions, to the point that it becomes hard for people to see the reality, that actually they are much worse. They also are constantly telling people that they cannot trust their own judgement, that they are sinful and weak, that they need those men in Brooklyn to tell them what is right and wrong. People dismiss the hypocrisy they see, or minimize it, or make excuses, because to face the reality is too overwhelming and goes against everything they have been conditioned to believe.

Cognitive dissonance will scream in their brain and they will have to believe the filthy disgusting cult's version of things for an easy life.

Alternative version: A wife comes home to find her husband in bed with another woman. The other woman gets dressed and leaves and the husband gets dressed and pretends nothing happened. The wife is upset and says "why were you cheating on me?" He responds "I wasn't cheating on you". She says "But I saw you with another woman in bed". He says: "What woman? Two witness rule.. haha"

Same thing went thru my mind last night after the meeting. The difference is that I am passed the point where I expect anyone to be listening. They are hearing, but they are not processing. One thing I took the chance to point to my wife was the rulemaking. So happens that her brother was once reprimended for wearing his sideburns too long. I asked her is that was not the same as what we just studied. She agreed, but rather reluctanly. When I started studying many years ago, I use to wear a goatee. I was told that I needed to remove it if I wanted to enroll in the ministry school. She got angry then because the elder that pointed this out stated "he would not let anyone step in HIS platform wearing that". Remind her of this too.
Another sad thing happened towards the last part of the meeting. While I believe this person sincerely just followed the part ( I am not implying he is a bad person on this), it just shows what many have pointed out before. The part was a presentation of how to prepare for FS with a sense of urgency. Part of which included a demonstration, by a couple, of how they prepare for field service, looking for subjects that will attract the interest of the household. They wen't on discussing a specific subject, regarding a big crime that was recently unfolding, in which law enforcement was implicated (no, it is not St Louis). The funny (sad really) part was when the man said "this is a good story to bring up to people. Lets take advantage of their concern". Literally I am quoting the brother.
May Jehovah forgive him because he is a good man.
