The hypocrisy never ceases to stun me even though I should know better. Criticizing the Jewish leaders for discriminating and looking down on non Jews. How do JWs look at non-JWs?? To not talk with them after school/work unless you are preaching to them, and that they deserve to be destroyed. ALL non-JWs are BAD ASSOCIATION by default! How much worse can it get? They truly are pros at seeing the straw in everyone elses eye and cannot see the huge beam in their own. They are totally blind to it. Its not just their comments at the KH, its also permeates their conversations.

The pharisees were merely the leaders of "Jehovahs Organization" at the time. They were only trying to "keep the congregation clean" from "worldly" non Jews. What is there to criticize? The GB should be praising their fine example in my opinion.

I think this weeks study provides a wonderful oppurtunity for Awake ones to share TTATTy comments that subtly point to JWs disparaging default view of all non-JWs and the use of man-made rules in the organization (e.g. no beards or no privileges)

Lots of JWs are going to be having cognitive dissonance with this study. Let's take advantage of this.

Doubt they are going to have any cognitive issues. Cognitive issues only arise when you do some thinking. When you are predisposed to quickly take what you don't understand and put it in the "Waiting on Jehovah to clarify" pile, cognitive dissonances get shut off.

The part about the religious leaders' attitude towards women was also disturbing when you think about the organizations' attitude towards women!

The part about the pharisees defining what constitutes work and coming up with a myriad of man-made rules for the sabbath reminds me of Watchtower defining what constitutes feeding and what constitutes blood and coming up with a myriad of man-made rules stating which fractions you can have and which you can't.

So true island man. I had the same exact thought yesterday. Same thing with how they define "uncleanness" They make up so many rules on what is uncleanness, when does it cross the line into gross uncleanness, when does it become greedy etc.. and add on many rules to define this. What about oral sex within marriage? How is that not a pharasaical man made rule? What about the prohibition on civilian alternative service? They had to make up rules about what was neutral and what was not.

They talk about how we do not have laws but we have principles. Arent principles supposed to be up to an individual to decide how to apply them? If a religious body determines exactly how principles should be applied, and makes rules based on principles, how is that any different than being under man made law again??

I just asked a question on yahoo answers, on the subject of this week's congregation bible study:

Let's see how the JWs respond

The "Draw Close to Jehovah" book? Doesn't reading the Bible make us feel closer to jehober? It does me when I read the OT about the genecide that jehober ordered. when I read about the stoning to death of a wrong doer, when I read how women were regarded and treated in Israel, when I read of how jehober gave the land, cities, orchards and posessions of other to the Israelites, and how the babies were cut out of the bellies of their mothers because jehober said so.

Gives you a warm feeling right?

    just saying
