Great answers... I would argue that they are more afraid of life than of death because every day is another opportunity where they could slip up and lose everything...
I think this is why many JWs will still rather die than take blood. For many the idea of dying for their faith is very strong. I think many JWs are the same type of people who would martyr themselves (and others) in a public square.

So, my sick at home wife was listening in to the meeting last night.
I heard an insane comment ( more than the others ) by one of the elders.
He says:
"Jehovah is the god of war. The god of Armageddon".

jws are afraid of being caught by the elders but as it says in Ezekiel
(Ezekiel 8:11, 12) . . .. 12 And he proceeded to say to me: “Have you seen, O son of man, what the elderly ones of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each one in the inner rooms of his showpiece? For they are saying, ‘Jehovah is not seeing us. Jehovah has left the land.’”
