Sorry to pour cold water on such expectations folks- But I already told you what they did to us-----Gave "our" (Ex JWS) side of the story- then did the Watchtowers side of their story- I was sitting with two Christians watching it- After it was over ( Roughcuts,
Children of Jehovah) The Christians said "Well after watching that -I would become a Jehovahs Witness......So Dont expect A GREAT story-
I have been there done that- I cried after OUR showing.
Did any of you see it? Showed how they built K Halls in a weekend & gave a service on the Sunday night- Showed a sweet little boy going from door to door - All the wonderful thing WE used to think was Straight from Jahs Teachings.....

I know what you mean, but .... have you read some of the newspapers lately on this issue.

We are not talking about some stupid doctrine issue here or something else. We are talking little kids being abused here and something tells me you don't do a "love" story about it.

Again my comments stand on this issue and I do tend to agee with Larc.

If Dateline just exposes the silentlambs issue it's still better than nothing in mainstream media. Now that it's mainstream some aware JWs can bring it up without suspicion of apostasy. Although it is disappointing that the cult angle was cut from the program. It's still better than nothing which was available in mainstream media so far.

I know of one witness over here who will NOT watch the show for fear of someone in his cong finding out he watched apostate propoganda.

I'm just glad it is going on. I had begun to think it never would. Any negative publicity is wonderful in my view and just the commercials have been great. Anytime I have known the whole story and then seen the same reported on in newspapers, magazines or TV, I have been dissatisfied with the results. Just remember, the normal Dateline audience will be watching, I will be watching, you will be watching and I assure you a whole lot of Witnesses will be watching and those that don't will hear about it. The Witnesses will try to twist this just like everything else but the good thing is they can't twist it too much. I remember when Ray Franz left, my parents told me they had heard it was to set up his own religion in France. Others later told me it was over homosexuality. So much for the TRUTH. With a national television show televising Witness faults it has to help the average person be more skeptical, the questioning Witness to ask more questions and an "Apostate" like me to leap for joy and talk about it to everyone I know. Here in Florida they have been running a lot of commericals with Erica shown as a little girl and now and saying "I was raped and now I'm the one being shunned." Or words to that effect. She is an innocent and strong person who has been wronged and she comes across really well as just that. As I said, the commercials have already done a good job of knocking the Witnesses out of any ivory towers they may have seen themselves in and the show will let the rubble fall around their ears I hope. Everyone that knows a Witness, with their "Holier Than Thou" attitude will throw this up to them I hope. Plus they will have to eat a lot of crow as they have been running their mouths about the Catholic Priests who bothered children. I am eagerly awaiting the showing with VCR ready to RECORD AND SHARE. The pompous, ignorant, greedy, blinded, brain washed, finger pointing, man worshipping, religous rag selling, back stabbing, would be vultures who have sold their loved ones for a false promise deserve to be exposed. They have been in part and however small or large there is more to come. It's all gravy to me!

I totally agree!

I saw the commercial for the first time yesterday and couldn't wait to see it. I'm trying NOT to get my hopes up too high, but do believe ANY publicity is harmful to the WTS.

I also wish they had kept Hassan's part on the show. But no matter what happens with Dateline, the work of exposing the wts is not over.

Just the fact that Barbera Andersons dfing was accompanied by the statement"there are dissidents among us", shows the cruelty and arrogance of the wts. So people within the wts who speak out against sexual abuse, even with clear cut evidence of such abuse, are nothing but dissidents according to the wts.

This statement means that they still refuse to acknowledge the problem or their guilt in this. And that kind of attitude shows that they continue to be a dangerous organization that needs to be taken out.

I believe Dateline will be a big factor, but the wts needs to be pressured until it is out of business. And that will take more work anyway.

I e-mailed everyone at my job and they have assured me they will be watching tonight. So it will be enlightenment for them if nothing else.

Some more of my 2 cents:

I here that shows are rated by the amount of response from the veiwers and that if the response is great enough they know that will affect their ratings in a positive way. Many people do not know about the inner workings of the WTS, and so they will not be quick to come to their defense. I personally think that Dateline will get much correspondance on Jehovahs Witnesses that will cause them to investigate more. It will become a hot topic for Dateline. In turn Dateline will do what any successful business would do, CAPITALIZE!!!

I hope that what I just said made sense to yall. Did to me. hahahah
