You are absolutely correct. I must say, I wish the gb wackadoodles were this vocal back when I began studying....it's a shame it's taken so long for them to blatantly Come Out of the Weirdness Closet. If that's the closet they are coming out of....I mean, tight pants notwithstanding...um, spanxx for the memories...darn, where are my pink socks...

It's interesting to take a step back and see when things really got off the rails. As far as I can tell, this general attitude developed in the early days of Rutherford's reign. He was in a power struggle and was fighting off massive defections. He chose to purge the ranks and increase the control the religion had over its members in an effort to solidify his hold on power.
By the time the GB was formed in the early 70s, it was composed exclusively of men who had served under Rutherford and had adopted his view. Most revealing is a quote from Crisis of Conscience where Ray Franz quotes from GB meetings where the prevailing thought was that "brothers couldn't be allowed to decide" on various issues lest it lead to a complete collapse of morality (or something like that, it's been a few years since I read it).
What you have today is a group of men who came up under the tutelage of a group of men who learned from Rutherford. The groudwork was laid nearly 100 years ago and Rutherford's choices continue to impact millions till this very day.

Really shows the priorities of this organization, the final concluding talk fully dedicated to nit picking behavioral control of the rank and file.
Jah and Jesus must be so proud of their selection of these folks as their earthly representatives.

They forgot, "In this zone, we are at a deficit at this point due to losing lawsuits over pedophile coverups and not doing what was best in children's interests. At this weekend's gatherings, if everyone in attendance could drop at least $30 in the box, we can stop fighting one case and focus on the other."
"Oh, I almost forgot. Just a couple weeks ago in Honduras, 69 of our brothers and sisters were in a bus accident trying to get to their convention on a Friday. Ordinarily, we would be announcing how Watchtower has reached out to the families involved. But the bus did not have proper permits and inspections and was driving at excessive speed for the rainy conditions and it fell into a ravine. 14 of our brothers and sisters died. 55 were hurt. It's no different than what I told you about socks, spankx, and tight pants folks. Take it up with God before you hop on such a bus. Holy Spirit will not watch over those that do not follow spiritual directions in the Watchtower and Kingdom Ministry about safe driving or riding in a bus."

Remember the 7 GB members all had some uncanny experience where words popped out of the Bible identifying them as "sons, by which spirit they cry out Abba, Father"
In other words something inside them told them they were special. "Yeah that's the ticket. I'm special"
Tony Morris is an angry old man with a scrooge McDuck hair style.
They are just another batch of baby-boomers that need to sit back and dream about "Yesterday".

I don't mean to be a party pooper or anything, but was there any mention of Jehovah at this zone visit talk thing?
Perhaps if everyone, especially the GB focused on what the religion is supposed to be about, the worshipping of Jehovah, then all
other things will fall into place.
I haven't been to a meeting since the memorial of 2013, so am not sure, do they still worship Jehovah or are the priorities changing?

" do they still worship Jehovah or are the priorities changing? " .
JW's worship only the Governing Body.
For many years they sidelined Jesus till he all but disappeared, now it's Big J's turn.
I do wish ToMo the Turd wouldn't talk about Spanx, it gets me thinking of Madonna's single "Hankey Pankey".

Thanks Phizzy for clarifying that for me, that JW's worship the GB.
From being on this site and others and from listening to my mother-out-law, a full on JW, I thought that must be the case.
My now deceased father used to say, "Focus on Jehovah. Man will always disappoint, Jehovah will never disappoint".
