    Shouldn't this be titled:

Why Are We Observing the Lord’s Evening Meal Again(Wasn't 2014 supposed to be the very last Memorial - we really mean it this time?)?

When they said it may be the last memorial they would celebrate last year, it was purely a sales technique to get more to attend. It did not work. All ex JWs knew that even if the sheep did not. I can remember going round the doors in 1975 telling people this may well be the last time we call lol.

Back around 2005 or 2006 the theme of the District Convention was 'Deliverance at Hand'. A JW I knew at the time told me that and then commented: 'What does the Governing Body know that we don't???'. Well, it's now 2014 and 'deliverance' still hasn't occurred. Nor will it. I think the Governing Body just dreams these predictions up in order to keep the rank & file members buzzing with anticipation. Of course the average Witness falls for it every time.

The word "observe" is the clever part of the title. All the verses that discuss the Lord's Evening Meal say to 'eat and drink.' This is what "observing" the Lord's Evening Meal means. When the WT says "observe," they want you to be like an outside observer. Only they also want you to affirm that you are only an outside observer by actually handling the emblems and making the choice to not partake. It is a very clever lie backed up by some serious peer pressure via the talk and everyone else around you looking askance at the person who dares to do what Jesus plainly said to do.

    • (Matthew 26:26-28) . . .As they continued eating, Jesus took a loaf, and after saying a blessing, he broke it, and giving it to the disciples, he said: “Take, eat. This means my body.” 27 And taking a cup, he offered thanks and gave it to them, saying: “Drink out of it, all of you, 28 for this means my ‘blood of the covenant,’ which is to be poured out in behalf of many for forgiveness of sins. . .

    • (Mark 14:22-24) . . .And as they continued eating, he took a loaf, said a blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying: “Take it; this means my body.” 23 And taking a cup, he offered thanks and gave it to them, and they all drank out of it. 24 And he said to them: “This means my ‘blood of the covenant. . .

    • (Luke 22:19, 20) . . .Also, he took a loaf, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them, saying: “This means my body, which is to be given in your behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” 20 Also, he did the same with the cup after they had the evening meal, saying: “This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood, which is to be poured out in your behalf. . .

    • (1 Corinthians 11:23-25) . . .For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night on which he was going to be betrayed took a loaf, 24 and after giving thanks, he broke it and said: “This means my body, which is in your behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” 25 He did the same with the cup also, after they had the evening meal, saying: “This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood. Keep doing this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me. . .

Some major Christian religions believe in Transubstantiation of the wine and bread, many others do not. Some Denominations serve Communion daily, weekly, monthly, annually. With no bonafide standard why pick on a JW for their particular oddity about Communion.

bobcat: --observe--. The only observer at the last supper was Jesus, and he was the only 'anointed' around. In John 6 he had said to get everlasting life one had to DRINK, EAT to have everlasting life, be resurrected. Everlasting Life, not Immortality. The partakers agree to give up everlasting life for immortality, even dying by the ax.

Observations about the 'observers only' memorial : wt outlines also surreptiously switcch from the 'cup of the [new] covenant' to the Kingdom Coveneant in order to create that exclusive partaker club.

It is the last one....they're overlapping.

This is easier for wt writers, because

it is always the last one, until the next one rolls around.

At least they got the title correct. JW's merely "observe" the Lord's Evening Meal, they do not PARTICIPATE or PARTAKE OF THE EMBLEMS, which Jesus Himself commanded His followers to do in rememberance of Him, and also if they wanted everlasting life. I noticed a long time ago that Jesus didn't say, "Only those of the 144K do this in remembrance of Me," - NO! He said that EVERYONE should do this in remembrance of Him. The JW's merely observe their Governing Body OverLords partaking, and actually deny the emblems of Jesus body. What an eye-opener it was for me when this realization washed over me. The JW's are truly spiritually sick in the head.....one might even say they are "spiritually diseased."
