"There's no defense for the indefensible". What the hell is she trying to say? Could someone please enlighten me?

Consider all of what she says. She says there's an implication that the society is being deceitful: "one stated policy and another one in practice." She hopes that's not true, but it could happen. And so, she isn't going to put a lot of effort into trying to defend anybody (because it might be true, what Dateline implies, that the stated policy is not the actual policy). "The indefensible" would be the actions of the society in sweeping pedophile activity under the rug.

Granny is getting with the program. "There's no defense for" behavior like that, she says... and it might be true.

Of course. But if I got the correct sense of things, there is an implication that we have one stated policy and another one in practice.

I don't think that's true. But it could happen. That's why I think it's wise not to go too far out on a limb trying to defend anyone. There's no defense for the indefensible.

This JWZONE thread has grown to 4 pages, and some of the latest posts indicate that DATELINE is definitely having an impact on JW R&F. It even has this "unique" group of JWs grumbling 'mongst themselves, which is rare on a JW DB.

Also, note that there is a separate thread about yesterday being a record day for the number of JWZONE visitors. The Adm must know that JWD is the referring link, yet they have allowed this thread to continue.

Makes me wonder how many "UnderCover Brothers" are over there? rofl rofl :)

To tell you the truth, I'm not so worried about talking about it at the doors. I am more worried about how our brothers and sisters will take it. Today I heard many comments of disapproval that the congregations are allowing the child molesters to go door to door and still associate with the congregations.

It was no biggie to me...I would think as long as they are repentant and want forgiveness so be it. Jesus Christ's ransom sacrifice still applies to them I would think. Many still don't like them being in the congregations with their children.

There have been worse cases of criminals killing witnesses children and then becoming a witness in the same congregation themselves. Then some said they would much rather have their children killed then have them molested and the witnesses who did in to remain in the congregation!
One sister even called a good friend of her's in the legal department and was on the cell phone with him for several minutes in the car while we were in the service group to try to get some answers. She didn't approve of just going up to the offender, them choosing to lie and say they didn't do it and then the whole issue is dropped basically. Of course, we need to wait on Jehovah in a situation like that.

I would like to just think that these are very emotional times and things are said in the heat or anger or pure emotion from mothers or other witnesses that wouldn't be said otherwise so its probably just nothing. I just pray that it stays nothing...

I've just read through those pages on the JWZONE, good grief - how do some of these people sleep at night??? It honestly makes my heart ache to see so many people being so misled, you feel like grabbing them by the shoulders and giving them a really good shake to wake them up sometimes.

A few quotes which I found particularly sad....

I watched the movies on JW-Media on this and really have no stomach to watch apostates being placed in an informative light. It would have been counterproductive to watch it, so I did something that was far more productive, make food.

I'm not going to watch it either.
But I bet all the opposers will have the popcorn out and'll be lovin' life tonight.
And it's so nice to know...that they won't be loving it for long!
And as for those attempting to stir discontent-Jehovah will always protect His organization and his People. As before, we will emerge better and stronger in the faith.
    How misguided they are...

I just went out in service for about 6 hours today and didn't hear one mention of the dateline program last night! All thru returns and street work nothin either. Many were depressed tho and very sad at the group for service this morning and getting out of the car in the territory felt a little strange since we didn't know how people would react. It kind of felt like we were getting out in front of firing squad. Hay, it couldn't be worse then going door to door while the towers collapsed!

Just makes me so glad I left... there is no way I could stomach these attitudes any more.

Oh, you believed the last person's OPINION that he was not repentant? and how would you know that?

this is a great point of argument against disfellowshipping. the witness is saying "how would you know that he was not repentant?".....and the same can be said of the elders making the final decisions. they are men, not god....who are they to judge who is repentant and worthy of fellowship, and who is not?

I skimmed through most of it. Doesn't seem to me to be too earth shattering. Just a lot of discussion on how to prepare themselves for field service and the work place. Don't know if there has been any mention as to how this may have effected the children at school. Maybe there will be some discussion about it in the up-coming week.

I am extreemely curious though about this little tid-bit I picked up over there.

Shocking as it is, even some who have been prominent in Jehovah’s organization have succumbed to immoral practices, including homosexuality, wife swapping, and child molesting. It is to be noted, also, that during the past year, 36,638 individuals had to be disfellowshipped from the Christian congregation, the greater number of them for practicing immorality.

    36,638 people IN ONE YEAR.

My question is...Where the hell ARE all these people?
Are they what makes up the lurkers here?

    MAJOR PUKE ALERT!!!

    (Now up to 5 pages.)

As I viewed that segment regarding "only two" cases that the police were involved in, and the subsequent "perps" in question, my thought immediately was the possibile liability the Society may expose themselves to by airing on national TV something that was of a confidential and private matter, another way to protect the victims. I would imagine that the permission of the victims and their families would have had to be obtained to even make mention of specific accusations. And remember the brothers primary goal is to protect the victims first and in this way those victimized need not worry they have to publically relive the horror of their abuse simply to answer some media questions made by persons not whole heartedly serving Jehovah or those not serving Him at all.

    Just my thoughts.

I came back to edit this somewhat and I also read the letter the Office of Public Information sent to Dateline NBC. Please, please read it if you haven't yet as the brothers are so loving in applying Bible counsel for the true benefit of the entire organization.
