I don't use my computer's address book function for storing people's e-mail addresses.
I do however, list as the first address in my book: [email protected]
If I were to receive a virus of this sort, the computer would attempt to send an e-mail to that address, and I would receive a MAILER-DAEMON message because the e-mail would bounce. This would also alert me to the presence of this kind of virus.
This should also work if you are using your address book to store e-mail addresses. Apparently, the virus "stalls" when it encounters an undeliverable address. Since the first address in your book is the one that stalls the virus, everyone else in your address book should be protected, theoretically.
