Baja-
Im an American citizen, but I will address some of your statements.
1. If we hadn't taken on the role of supercop, you and I would probably speak Russian very well.
Yes I know, in thier own arrogance some Americans believe it is only they and their country capable of winning a war of controlling the course of history. Patriotism is one thing, arrogant ignorance is another.
2. I feel we're stuck playing supercop for a while, I don't believe we have much choice for now. Reborn2002, do you own a car? Do you need oil and gas to get back and forth to work? Do you think your job or business depends upon a stable world?
Yes, I own a car. No, I do not need oil and gas to get back and forth to work, as I now work less than a block away from my apartment. Yes I somewhat believe my job would depend on a stable world. I see where your going with the direction of these questions, and how you intend to apply them to how the United States is somehow all responsible for the rest of the world. The world existed for thousands of years before the United States was a vision in any of the Founding Father's eyes. Barring nuclear holocaust, it would exist long after as well. Yes nuclear war is a possibility, but the United States should not play global peacekeeper at the expense of millions of Americans. Isnt it time the rest of the civilized world picked up some of the slack?
3. If not us, who else would step up to the plate?
Enter US arrogance once again, that only the United States has the capacity or ability to intercede, and nothing else in the entire world composed of hundreds of other countries can be accomplished without American intervention.
4. It's humorous to me, that you believe our government, is responsible to hand out our money we've earned. Then redistribute it to people who haven't lifted more than a finger to cash their government check. Redistribution of wealth is socialism, no matter if it's on a state, national or international level.
Happy you find it funny. Those waiting for 2 or 3 years tied up in litigation while pursuing Social Security Disability because they are physically handicapped I am certain do not find it as humorous. All the while visas and financial aid are granted for total foreigners to enter the United States to be research scientists or engineers, while the government in some cases neglects its own born-and-raised citizens. Or what about the United States sending billions of dollars to Israel, Afghanistan, and the like? It is not the common United States citizen's responsibility to provide shelter, food, and education for other nation's people. Yet thats where billions of taxpayer dollars go.
The rich bureacrats and corporate moguls live like kings.. especially those chummy-chummy with good ole Dubya and Cheney. (read Enron being Bush #1 campaign contributor, and several former Enron employees being in Bush's Energy Cabinet... yet he knew nothing? Gimme a f&%$##ing break)
I am NOT a Democrat either, so dont give me some flaming post accusing me of not being Republican or for being pro-Gore. Again these are my opinions here. Although I am sure as Yeru states so convincingly, I just dont:
