I meant to say that the ending *wasn't* very plausible considering the horrific events that had gone before, but it made me feel good, anyway.
I'm with Ebert. I deeply fear (and honestly feel) that in years to come our children will look back on this movie as childishly optimistic. I wish that wasn't so, but I have little to hope for, based on man's history of ineptitude, arrogance and pride.
I hope with all my heart that I'm wrong.
