Hard to pin down only a few...
Best overall movie: Runaway Train (Akira Kurosawa), a dark, brilliant movie with Jon Voight, Rebecca De Mornay and Eric Roberts
Comedy: Young Einstein (Top Secret runner-up)
Sci-fi: Blade Runner (Matrix runner-up)
Action: Leon (Nikita -- french version -- runner-up)
Drama: Babette's Feast (Danish, Babette's Gjestebud, won 1986 Oscar for best foreign-language film -- i usually say real men don't like drama, but make an exception now and then )

Some of my favorites:
American Dreamer (chick flick, but I LOVE it!)
Airplane
A Fish Called Wanda
Princess Bride
That's all I can think of at the moment...
Dana
fight club, hands down.

Overall Favorite- Thomas Crown Affair (new version)
I'm a sucker for Meg Ryan movies. You've Got Mail, French Kiss, Sleepless in Seattle.
A small film I like is Ghost Dog
Anything by Akira Kirasawa
I liked the Matrix all the way up to the cheesy ass, "I love you Neo" part.
"The Shawshank Redemption"- Best movie of all time! But I never tire of "Dumb and Dumber", "The Matrix", "Ever After" and "Aliens" and either of the Austin Powers flicks.

This movie is GREAT!
It will make you cry (uh...not admitting that I actually cried...um...no...I didn't cry....Oh, all right! So I did! So what?!?)
Cool Hand Luke -- definitely
Spiderman really blew me away, so right now, that's at the top of my chart.
Since I am partial to Star Trek films, I'll mention First Contact too.
Titanic was no favorite of mine, but seeing the people in the water really affected me.
Rat Race might be on my list for best comedy. It starts slow, but gets very funny.
Airwalk, thanks for the nice, fluffy post. Things have been so serious here lately, and rightfully so, with the whole Dateline thing and all. This post was a nice distraction!
