Finkelstein - "Sounds like the GB heads are just trying to stretch "This Generation" doctrine a little further."

Not much choice, really; if your entire corporate strategy involves being an apocalyptic Christian religion, you kinda have to.

Finkelstein - "Well at least until the in place GB members die off, then everything will be handed over to the proceeding GB members and boy aren't in for a nice challenge?"

    I know, right?

And here we thought GB2.0 had inherited a fluster**k.

I can see that, cappy and OTWO. Especially with regard to printing things generically so as to allow for future changes which is sort of my point. If they believed the overlapping thing was long term why not print it there...? Instead its gone from both the insight book and the revised greatest man book. I cant help but feel this signals a change is imminent, although i freely admit that there is some wishful thinking on my part thrown in...

_Morpheus: I don't think the change is imminent. I honestly think they're just glossing over the official doctrine to avoid anyone questioning it. If someone asks for details on the generation teaching, they'll direct them to the Overlapping articles.

It's also possible that it's just the writing department that doesn't agree with the "overlapping" doctrine and are stating things as generic as possible - keeping things "technically" correct to get approval and avoiding addressing the overlapping issue so as to not cause Cognitive Dissonance and raising doubts in the rank & file.

Again, pure speculation. But, as those of us that have read Crisis of Conscience, it wouldn't be the first time the writing department disagreed with official GB approved doctrine.

Expect GB. 3 to eventually say " You know what, we've come to some new understanding which shows that 1914 was wrong "

Are faithful dedicated brothers at the time were being overly zealous in their expectations and their applied calculation dating system .

We still expect though that we are living in the last days of this wicked system of things as prophesied in the bible and that we should continue on spreading the good news as Jesus has instructed his followers.

So keep turning in your monthly publishers report and continue on preaching the new Kingdom to come soon.

Warm Christian love from all the GB members ,

Brings to mind that old saying, "Oh what a web we weave when others we try to deceive".

A once simple, clear straightforward teaching about "this generation" has required re-thinking because, well, time has kept passing and no end has arrived.

A faint whiff of "The little boy who cried, 'Wolf'" can be detected.

So now "this generation" is simply the disciples who see all the many different features of the sign?

"Generation" does not take on a new special meaning to suit the prophecy relating to 1914, it must not pass the boundary of how it is used in the Bible, I do not see how could Jesus refer to a generation of a different meaning.. 100 years more or less is the date limit regardless. 2015 or 2016 is max. It cannot be any longer and still be the same generation.

The context of Jesus prophecy ties generation to "the sign". "This generation will by no means pass away until all these things happen." We need to know what Jesus meant by "all these things". And then SOMEONE living must have seen them happen. But regardless, the limit is 100 years more or less, because that is the aprox length of someone's life span in our modern time. Cannot have some one see half and some one else see the other half. How else could some one see ALL things happening if he did not see them all?

...... which leaves one to believe the WTS are just buying their time with 1914.

The GB living today gave themselves a bit of insurance converge by applying the overlapping generation which again has little bible support.

S ----T----R-----E----T----C----H it out boys, most of you have only 10 to 15 years left

Dam C T Russell and his 1914 dating scheme !

It gets to point of comical proportions in how a really stupid doctrine like 1914 was originally created not only by Pyramidology but by setting a specific time in the first place.

Too bad the early leaders of this organization weren't well trained bible scholars but novice amateurs who were nevertheless endeavored to promote their theological ideas to the pubic by publishing and distribution.
