Oh, sure they will. [8>] I've been inactive for 16 years and never had a shepherding call.

My husband is disfellowshipped. The elders did call on him once to ask if he wanted to go back, which he answered in the negative; but they never spoke to me, nor did they even ask about me.

I'm not complaining--I rather enjoy being invisible--but this whole we-love-all-the-lost-sheep-and-will-seek-them-out campaign seems to be nothing more than PR for those still inside. In this way, all the active Dubs can crow about how wonderful the Society is and how it cares about those who are "spiritually sick".

I shall say nothing; I shall do nothing. I shall be as elusive as the breeze and as enigmatic as the moon.

Failing that, I'll tell them to STUFF IT!!

since i live in the same town as when i was associated, they will be the same elders that hunted me down at every new place i moved to over the years, so i'll tell them how glad i am that they came, and that i want to repent of my free thinking-right before i slam the door.

Ahh, you mean you'll be yourself?

    All,

There are 3 groups that will be targetted; children, Bible students, and the inactive.

I feel sorry for the inactive chidren who are studying the Bible. They are the prime target.

P.S. This post gets me Senior membership, and with that I'm off to bed.

I agree it's like I said on another board alot of times it comes down to politics. When a brother gave a talk about helping some of the friends out with getting a ride to and from the meetings these brothers reminded me of how some hospitals are careless with following policies but as soon at JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Organizations) comes in they even do the obvious like polishing the floors and fixing broken medical equipment in a timely fashion. If only the society put just as much emphasis on promoting brotherly love as they do in promoting hypocrisy!!

Well done, old son, Thirdson, on gaining your status as a Senior Member.

We should do a poll on what makes us feel good about this status. Methinks it has something to do with the elder class mentality, or am I just being sanguine today? !

Anyhow, thanks for your post. It's somewhat gentler here than H20 isn't it?

Ozzie (of the not so proud to be an elder class)
