This is a most touching story. I am so happy you regained some of your family...I feel sorry for your parents. They are missing out on beautiful relationships.
While my mother does speak to my sister and has helped her financially over the last 24 years, there are many years in between when they did not speak. My nephew knows nothing of his grandmother and calls her names (very vile ones). It is really distressing.
All of this hate and destruction of a family over man made teachings....it is so sad.
I hope come to chat when you can and keep posting.

How about a brotherly hug from an ageing hippie (in spirit anyway) that you have moved to tears ?.
I am sad that I was once a party to the organisation structure that produced such bad parental behaviour. I can only say that it was not the way it was meant to happen, but experience has shown me too many cases when such things did happen . Thank you for sharing.

Blues.......I would always welcome a hug.....especially from a fellow "hippie" (okay, I am just a hippie-wanna-be).
Thanks EVERYONE for offering such love and support for me and eyegirl.

Hi, scootergirl!
I was busy most of the weekend so was glad to be able to read 'how it all turned out". I guess that's still a work in progress, but I am so glad that you have moved past your self-destruction and affirmed your value to yourself. Your family is beautiful (including eyegirl, whom I 'see' with her writings here) and it's nice to know that your children are blessed with parents who will love and guide them no matter what life brings.
Thanks for sharing.

(((Scootergirl and Eyegirl))) Wow! Thanks for sharing your story; even tho it is difficult to do, it is so very freeing, is it not? And I think it gets easier with each telling.
Your parents sound an awful lot like mine. Interestingly, it was a woman named Nancy that brought my mom into the organization. Also, my sister is my best friend, and the only member of my family that I haven't lost. Interesting parallels.
I'm glad that you've received support and warmth from many on this forum; it can be a wonderful place to stretch and grow.
Thanks again for having the courage to share with us some of what you've been thru and (((HUGS)))to you and your family.

Wow have you ever been to hell and back! So sad that you "lost" your parents, but they're just shells of their real selves due to the indoctrination of the JW's. No real love there. (I know, my parents are JW's too.)
I am so glad you have found some comfort here on this board. It will be great to meet you in a couple of weeks at apostofest, I'm sorry, aposta-palooza as you and EYEGIRL like to call it!!

Hi Christy!
Thanks for sharing your story, especially the cool ending! I, too, am a 12-stepper (NA). I love my program and am so grateful to be out of the borg. and spiritually free. I posted "my story" a long time ago, but have no idea how to find it.
As they say in the rooms, keep coming back!
