Like Reborn, I live by myself and do it all. I actually prefer to wash the dishes by hand rather than put them in the dishwasher. They get cleaner that way, in my opinion. Plus, if I eat alone or with a girlfriend, there's not enough to make a full load, and I don't like leaving them sitting until there is. It takes just a couple of minutes to wash and dry everything and put it up.
When I was a child, at my grandparents' house everybody gathered in the kitchen after the meal to wash, dry and put up the dishes together. It was a fun time and gave me a feeling of belonging.
I make my bed, too. It's such a habit that I even do my girlfriend's when I stay over there. However, let the record show that she does a lot of handyperson chores like repairing a stopped-up drain, mounting brackets on walls, and painting the ceiling. She even (gasp!) changes her own light bulbs.
