Here's one for the sixties / protest & psychadelic crowd:

The year was 1967 and this song was banned by the US GOVT:

"the eastern world, it is exploding'"
    "violence flaring, bullets loading"
"you're old enough to kill, but not for voting"
"so tell me what's that gun you're toting"
"even the jordan river has bodies floating"

"and you tell me over and over and over again, my friend, you say you don't believe we're on the ******** ** **************!

It's my all time favorite reflection song from the sixties.

    Well, hey there, Ut Reform,

Nice to see your name! (I saw it as you were the last poster on this thread). Just popped over to say "hey!".

Btw, I remember part of the lyrics of that song. Was a teen in the '60's. Just don't remember the name. Anti-Vietnam War.

I know what you mean about that song - I wasn't alive in the sixties and it stirs me up too.

So I punched out my truck on a telephone pole
Lawd, she never looked back, she just said, "Go, driver, go"
Well I know I could have caught her, but I ran out of luck
She was long gone for Lufkin b'time they cut me outa my truck

COMF=We tossed this one around for a long time, starting way back on page 27,today I finally heard it on the radio and it clicked...I must've missed the sound byte, and the Roseanne Cash reference went right over my head.....it's "She's Crazy For Leavin" by Rodney Crowell

Well, since I don't have a clue about any of this later stuff bein' posted,I'll put up a few more...

    The loneliness within me
    Takes a heavy toll
'Cause it burns as slow as whiskey through an empty aching soul

    Nobody can explain it
    Some say she's still alive
They even claim they've seen her
On the shoreline late at night.

She never knew what his calls might bring
With a cowboy like him, it could be anything
And she always expected the worst
In the back of her mind

She left a yellow rose and a long neck bottle
On a table beside my bed
With a short little note that said I had a good time
It was written in lipstick red

And I remember every time I said I'd never leave
But What I can't live with is memories of the way you used to be
