I was on the phone to someone in New York yesterday and he said "you Brits are doing really well in the world cup!" and I said, "yeah, you guys arent doing so bad either". What I didn't tell him is that we have actually won the world cup, reached the quarter finals 7 times or the fact that we actually invented the game.

No, it's not boring. Football is basically a war game. So is chess. 2 sides probe and prod to gain the upper hand, when it comes, you may get 15 -20 minutes of absolutely stunning skill and excitement. That's why so many turn up, those 15 - 20 minutes are priceless.
