Just curious, what is the new 15 minute rule? I have been our for two years and haven't heard of that.

No kidding, 15 minutes? Wow, had I known that I might've stuck around. When I was a publisher, anything under 10 hours a month was a cause for unspoken, personal concern. All those years of fudging the numbers, and taking liberty with exactly how many "placements" I made. (Loved the old, stick an old "Awake" magazine at a Not-at-home: that really brought the number up with no actual fudging necessary.

Really, 15 minute time requirement? *I* probably can even make THAT number now as a DA'd ex-JW. Surely I spend at least 15 minutes a month "educating" non-jw friends/family about JW's beliefs...

Jesus waited until he was 30 and he was allegedly the son of God! But then again, the WT has never used Jesus as any sort of role model when what Jesus said and did interfered with their policies and doctrine.

You think like I do. My familys constantly held it up in my face that Im not living up to my dedication. A decision I made when I was 13 years old! How many life-decisions do we encourage kids to make at that age. Now 10???

Funny, dont the JWs use the fact that Jesus was preaching at the temples at 12 as some sort of basis for ultra young baptism?? Too bad they leave out the MAJOR detail such as his baptism at 30. Another logic-defying move. I've never heard a sound explanation from them on this one.

: Really, 15 minute time requirement?

It's a new WT policy called the "Codger Clause." To qualify, you must be a codger who can't get out and hump the streets like the rest of the publishers. In otherwords, the society will NEVER let you retire, but in their loving mercy has lowered your salvation-requirement threshold to 15 minutes per month. This allows codgers to be counted as "regular" publishers and makes the Society's stats look better than they really are. Same with their lowering of hours for pioneers. "Guess what, brothers? We have had a BIG increase in pioneers recently! Isn't Jehovah blessing us?" In a business, this would be called "Creative Accounting." In WatchtowerLand(tm), it's called a "Loving Provision From Jehovah."

    It's all Bible-Based(tm), you know.

    Farkel,

Are you having a problem with Jehovah's loving mercy?

Ah Metatron, ye of little faith...

WE are the ones who have the victory.

We are the ones, through an incredible unprecedented public education campaign, who forced Watchtower to lower the requirements for pioneers. We forced Watchtower to lower the requirements for Bethel. We forced Watchtower to lower the requirements for being a publisher (from 10 to 1 to 15 minutes). We forced Watchtower to start printing stupid paper books. We forced Watchtower to finally end their subscriptions.

There are downsides to this tho. Firstly, Watchtower is so desparate for elders it allowed/allows child rapists to occupy those positions, and to go door to door. Secondly, tremendous pressure is put on young ones to be baptised, as never before. And thirdly, Watchtowers's recruting tactics and Theocratic Warfare Strategy is worse than ever, in response to these EXTERNAL pressures.

And we did not do this alone. We had Watchtower helping us, with their inane policies and public relations strtegies. THANK YOU J.R.Brown, we couldn't do it without you!!!

And lastly, we had help from many many brave JW's who are voting with their feet and their wallets. God bless you one and all.

    Just my 1/2 cent worth...

    Hello everyone,

a good topic and many interesting comments.

    To Farkel:

"Not to mention the fact that they are encouraging 10-year-olds to get baptized. I think someone should re-post that Jan 15th (?) 2000 WT which showed a picture a little girl that couldn't be over ten getting dunked."

Very true, it was the w. Jan 15th 2000, page 7 - photo right at the center of the page.

(And they told the Bulgarian govt. that...they don't baptize children!!!

This is news..the 15 minute requirement thing. Just for the old folk? Are you saying that a pub can hand in a time slip with 15 minutes only, and still be considered active? Sheeesh...and have the pio hr requirements gone down again? what are they?

TIME, TIME, TIME! That is what really counts to JW's. Not PEOPLE, PEOPLE, PEOPLE!

I was a pioneer. And I have to say a very conscience one. But at the same time when I really needed help and encouragement, even asking for help for my family, none came. I begged for ten years as I watched my marriage go down the tubes. NOBODY came!! NOBODY cared!! But they sure would go out and get their ten hours in service. No, they don't help. But if you slip up, make a mistake, and really need guidance-they are there in a hurry "to keep the org clean" and hear all the dirty details. The sad part is if we had the right mind, instead of blindly following a "mother organization", we probably could have handled things on our own and been fine.

Disgusted with the whole idea of counting time instead of making time count!! Lollylou
