Though not on topic, there is also an article on hemoglobin-based products and their use on a JW in the same Newsweek issue.

Thanks for that scanned copy, hawk. I was hoping to actually get to see it in print!

What I especially liked and what jumped out at me, was the "torn piece of paper" superimposed on the Catholic side of the page, which said something like: "---even ONE incident -- past, present, future -- and the priest is forever REMOVED from the MINISTRY...." -- and then over in the JW article, JR Brown says if a JW is accused, he's still a good ole boy and can go door to door (i.e., PUBLIC MINISTRY).

Wonder if any worldlies or current JWs will catch that comparison?

Raised as a Catholic (yuk) turned JW, turned Bewildered, I never thought I'd see the day when the Catholic Church actually came out lookin' better than the JWs.

J.R.Brown is out the door (unfortunately, since he did us more good than he did his 'own' side) and some other person is being disengenuous in his place.

    Who shot JR?

    ;)

Seriously, has JR Brown been "fired" from his PR job at the WTS?

    Grits,

After reviewing your comments I urge you to get the printed copy because you will love it.

I completely agree with you on the optics.

As for Mr. Brown. I have been led to beliveve by my contacts that he IS still in his position as PR spokesperson. Others have told me differently so I will be interested in verifying this part of the story.

Brown points out that people who accuse the church are often lapsed Witnesses, and open prey for exploiters..

Having trouble understanding JR Brown's comments in Newsweek? Maybe this will help.

Exploit: As in receive help or assistance from outside source, especially legal or judicial help

Lapsed Witnesses: person who after having been abused, physically, sexually and spiritually recovers enough strength to seek help.

(More definitions for other JW-Media articles.)

    Dissident: Victims Advocacy Group

Truth in Advertising: Policy unknown to WBTS. i.e. :Disfellowshipping does not sever family ties. See (jw-media.org/beliefs/beliefsfaq.htm)

Hi again Hawk... OK. Even tho it's raining cats and dogs down here in the Sunshine State, I'll run right out and get a copy! ;)

All jokin' aside, I'll be out 'n about tomorrow and will pick one up. Walgreen's has a good newsstand section, so they should have it. I already posted a link to this thread at Silent Lambs so visitors there can come see the printed version, too.

Blondie mentioned that there was a blood article in the same mag. Just so happens that article just came thru another email group, so I'll post it under News/Events. I didn't even read it yet.

I kinda feel sorry for JR... you gotta figure he's just brainwashed to say whatever he's "supposed" to say... he can't possibly really believe what he says... maybe he's confused and scared, like lots of the JWs still on the inside. (Now everybody can throw tomatos at me for being a softie). :-/

    GRITS

PS: Every single time I post a message, I always check the box that says I have subscribed to this thread so I will get email when anyone posts more to it. I've been doing this all along, but I have YET to get notification of new posts via email. I'll have to find the Newbie section -- there's gotta be one -- explaining how to play this game correctly! ;)
